I took the first dose of Covishield vaccine along with 3 other senior citizens from Fortis Anandapur on 10th March. During the initial days there was vaccine hasitency hence there was no much crowd.
However, we did not receive any message regarding vaccination even after 3/4 days. Whereas, I know that recipients from Medica were getting the message almost immediately. While asking about the issue over phone I started to realise that they were not handling things properly. Later on I received the message where the date of vaccination was wrongly written as 12th March instead of 10th.
The horrible experience started at the time of the second dose. While other centers are taking good care about the elderly citizens for the second dose, Fortis adopted a policy of equal priority for all (first and second dose). As a result the recipients of the first dose gathered at Fortis, at the same time the people like us have nearly no option left but to try at Fortis as nearly all others are closed for people who have teken the first dose from elsewhere.
Now nobody will respond to the phone enquiry at Fortis. You have to stand in a long queue to get a coupon if you can reach early and you are lucky.
I stood in the queue at 4.30 am to get a serial number, I am 61, you can imagine how easy it was. I was asked to come between 1 and 2 pm. After arriving I found there was a complete mismanagement. All seniors were asked to wait outside within the summer heat for indefinite amount of time. The responsible people behaved with absolute apathy with the people who were waiting for hours. Not only that, when asked about their ignoring attitude some of them became rude and even threatened me that he would not let me have the vaccine. The person involved literally harassed me to hand over the papers neede. Of course, I protested and also shouted at him for his behaviour. Then at the vaccination hall, while we were waiting at the hall after vaccination for the health check-up. The same person suddenly came in and asked my wife whether check-up was over, when she said no, he very rudely asked her to leave the place after it is done. Again, while my wife enquired about the certificate at the counter, the same person appeared and behaved quite rudely with my wife. At this stage, after repeated misbehaviour from the same person a scuffle broke out as my wife could not accept the insult. It was over, we were on our way to the lift. The same person shouted from behind taunting about our family background. Obviously again there was very nasty situation as we were not in a position to accept the insult. Finally on our way back the same person took photo of the number plate of our car to intimidate us.
A disgusting horrible incidence as we relied on Fortis. To compare, when I was writing this review, I received a call from one of my relative, she arrived at 6.15 pm, the second dose vaccination was over before 7 pm as everything was preplanned by Medica.
Through my experience I learnt that I should never advice anyone to depend on Fortis. I have experienced that at least some of their employees can have vindictive attitude towards their patients. Extremely surpring for a healthcare facility. Shame on them.
