How does the world seem to a person who is deemed as an idiot or as a person with a low IQ? Many will think that he would get demoralised or upset, and would like to end up his life soon. But for a person who don't even know what hatred is like, for what wars are fought for, and why do people kill each other; for him the stinging words won't cause much harm. The only thing he wants and what he knows about is Love.

We look at an insane person and laugh out at him. We laugh at his antics and abnormal behaviours. We think we are the brightest people on earth. But every human being is mad. Everyone has tensions and sadness, and they cannot cope with it. As Jesus Christ said to the people who were about to stone the woman, ''That who has never commited sin in his life should come out and stone the woman first''. All were silent as all were sinners. We are always quick judgers of others, but seldom we judge ourselves. We talk about the low IQ of a person and insult him. But when the person smiles at you back and says, ''Thank you for giving my IQ as 15. It's five more than last time! I think I am improving, but what about you?''

Forrest Gump released in the year 1994 is directed by the great Robert Zemeckis. The title role is played by Tom Hanks who is a person with low IQ. His life story takes us through all the incidents of the late 50's to the 70's. Some memorable incidents are picturised beautifully. The movie is a well carved out piece-of-art.

Let's meet Forrest Gump

Our main character, Forrest Gump is a guy who he's too stupid to realize the significance of his actions. He do think just out of pure co-incidence. All he want is the love of his life, Jenny.

He has been taunted in his childhood by other kids. Jenny gave him the confidence to leave behind the crutches and just run. His other inspirer is his mother who once said to him ''Life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get. So true!

What he craves for is the love of Jenny, and of his mother's, Bubba's and Lieutenant Dan's. He is an unselfish man as he don't has the brains to cultivate the selfish human nature. He does not show any care or pay any relevance to any acts or incidents happening around him. So, the assassination of Kennedy, meeting with Richard Nixon, fighting in Vietnam is of no importance to him. Even running across the face of America is of no use to him. But while on his path, he gives inspiration, guidance, and even business to other people. He is the inventor of Smiley and the slogan Sh*t Happens. He also give a blind eye to the job offer by Apple. And he also gives millions of dollars from the shrimp business to the parents of the Late Bubba!

But he never gets his love of his life, Jenny. At the end he does manage to achieve her, but sadly for a short period. He is a man of hidden emotions. A man with no worldly desires or cravings. He is just a simple human being who are made by God every million years.

The Plot

The story was taken from a novel by Winston Groom, while Eric Roth did the screenplay. The story was unique and was a difficult task to achieve, both by the director and the actors. But the crew managed to dish out one of the best movie in Hollywood.

The story is about our character, Forrest Gump, who goes through many phases in his life and through many historic events. He gets popularity by mere accidents. He is sent to fight in Vietnam, play Ping-Pong in China and do shrimp business on the Pacific. He emerges successful in every bit of his life, but except in the field of love. First he loses his mother (Sally Field), then Bubba (Mykelti Williamson), and then Jenny (Robin Wright).

The story can be called a biography of a ordinary man doing extraordinary stuff. It is a movie that shows us the world, which will never be the same once you've seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump. You will experience sadness and the happiness, as if it is happening to you. You will laugh, you will cry. In all, it is a 'human' story.

The Crew

I have covered all the crew members above. But let's have a summary:

Director: Robert Zemeckis

Screenplay: Eric Roth

Forrest Gump: Tom Hanks

Jenny: Robin Wright

Lieutenant Dan: Gary Sinise

Mrs.Gump: Sally Field

Bubba: Mykelti Williamson

Son of Gump: Haley Joel Osment

Of the cast, Tom Hanks is the winner. He gives the best performance of his life. Robin Wright was seen coming in and going out of the movie. But she performed well too. Sally Field plays the mother of Forrest Gump, and does it with charm. Gary Sinise looks good too. But I liked Mykelti Williamson very much as Bubba. Other characters played their part well. So, the movie didn't lack in acting performances.

Now talk about direction done by Robert Zemeckis. I don't have words to describe his skills. He is just superb. From a simple scene of a soaring feather to complex scenes of Tom Hanks meeting Nixon, he did it just well. His excellence was oozing all over the movie.

The special effects crew must also be applauded. They did a brilliant job. They made Tom Hanks play Ping-Pong at a rate, which is just unbelievable. They made him meet with the late Presidents of USA, and even Elvis!

In all, Forrest Gump had everything that a movie ever craved to have.

The Message

We see something to get inspired, and this one would really do it for you.

The movie says that a man does not need to be strong, clever, rich to be become famous. All what is needed is believe and goals. Forrest Gump wanted Jenny, and he did achieved it. He wasn't smart, handsome or rich, but he had love, and lots of it. He loved everyone, not caring about who they are and what they want. This is the power of love. I really appreciate the efforts behind making of this movie. I can watch it again and again. It really inspired me. Now I don't laugh at a lame or dumb person, but I try to help him out, not caring about the other people who is laughing at him.

In all, a beautiful movie and a must-see. I give it an HR rating.
