Bought the second generation fiesta after selling my Ford Fusion(https://mouthshut.com/review/Ford_Fusion-86175-1.html). My personal intention was to stick with fusion. But Family pushed me for a change. Thus went for a Fiesta.
I opted for Fiesta SXI 1.4 TDCI with accessories like Alloys and spoiler.
Dealership
I booked the car from Fortune Ford hyderabad. Their sales team is good. They delivered me the car promptly. I can rate them 8/10 for their service
Ride
Front seat comfort is good.(not excellent) as well as the rear seats. Stability at high speed is excellent. The control over the vehichle is also excellent. You may feel it as a little bit bumpy ride on ghat roads compared to Honda City, but that is acceptable when we compare with the highway performance. Corner side handling is excellent. Gear shift is good. Cable shift gives a good smooth gear shift. ABS is useful when you apply the break on wet highways and on gravelled roads.
Engine is very responsive. You won't feel the turbo lag because the turbo kicks in at 1200 RPM. This gives you a good overtaking ability on highways and less gearshifts on city traffic.(But don't compare with the 1.6 duratec engine:))
Comfort
Ford has given good leather seats and it is value for money. The CD system is also up to the mark(Not exceptional). Sound quality is good with 6 speakers. Automatic volume adjustment is a good feature. The multi speed wipers are very useful. Electronic boot release and remote boot release is another good feature. 12V DC output is another good feature. Fog lamps are useful and provides good eye sight when you travel in heavy rain or when you drive through hill station. Storage spaces are adequate. On door pockets you can keep 2 litre bottle and lot many other stuff. Rear hand rest is useful. Rear leg room is adequate. Head room and shoulder room are ok. Rear seat can accommodate 3 persons. Boot space is not generous but is enough for a family. Rear folding seat give you an option of extra space. Indicator is on the ORVM is a good feature for me. Electrically adjustable ORVM is there. Height adjustable driver seat gives you the option to set the driving position. Leatehr wrapped steering wheel gives good grip.
There are lot many spaces that left un-usable like space under front seats. fuel lid opener is still with cable operated. Fuel Lid doesn't close properly. I would like to see a 12V DC output for rear as well. In this price bracket you expect a climate control as well. DTE(distance to empty) is a good feature, but the calculation algortihm can be bettered.(The reading changes based on the car's standing position). Becasue of the air bag, to sound horn you need to apply exessive pressure. A trouble some for lot many. Warning lights on the dial pads are not visible in the day light. seat belt warning is not there.
Fuel Economy
On City condition with 100% A/C on it will give you minimum 14+ KMPL and on highways you can get minimum of 18 KMPL(with 100% A/c on and at average speed 90+ KMPH)
After sale service
Till today I have incurred zero cost on service as I have taken the Total Maintainance Plan. The quality of service is ok. The service centres in Hyderabad are known for their worst services. But year by year they are improving a lot. I would say in the last 2 years they have improved a lot. Now the bar matches with other brands like Honda, Hyundai, Maruti etc. But still the lack of professionalism is there.(In Hyderabad that is there with all the brands).
Spare parts prices have come down drastically in the last 3 years and every year it is going down. a good sign for Ford customers. Now its in par with competitors and some spares are cheaper than competitors.:)
My one year experience
No issues so far. Had a long trip. We had a Hyderabad-Kerala round trip. At high speed the car was solid.(I would say Fusion is more solid than Fiesta at high speeds). Rear seat comfort in long drive was ok.
Two services were done. The only part replaced was A/C switch, I think that could be because I always switch on and off. This came under warranty.
