Good Car. Review on Ford Fiesta TDCI

My Fiesta 1.4 TDCi EXI is three months old and carried us about 6000 km mainly on the hilly tracks of Sahyadri Mountain Range. It roars when on higher gear on Mumbai – Pune expressway. I gladly appreciate its performance.

Before selecting this car, I have checked many other models and make. I have selected this model of fiesta because of fuel efficiency, road clearance, decent engine power, look & elegance, interior, back seat comfort and last but not the least Price Tag. On road about Rs.8, 50, 000 after getting some corporate discount. Accessories I have fitted from one shop at Vashi. At car decor shops accessories are cheaper.

I have opted for diesel just to save fuel cost and massive mileage I actually I get. I like white car so its white. I am getting about 22 KM average with AC on. Normally I drive below 100 and select gear as per the rotation of engine. Rotation I try to maintain below 2(x 1000). Windows are always close and AC on when on high speed. Open windows will increase fuel consumption due to high wind resistance. It looses its aerodynamic design benefits. According to my experience, AC does not make any difference when on high speed. It is better to close the windows and AC on for comfort(if necessary) for higher mileage.

Driving a Fiesta is a pleasure in-spite of its diesel engine. Very less noise and pick up is good. With my style of driving I can go to fourth gear in 1 – 2 minutes if road is clear. On Vrunda Ghats I can comfortably use third and fourth gear. Never tried fifth gear on ghats. But, on highway fifth gear is after reaching 50 KMH and it moves quietly on Mumbai-Pune Highway. I may be getting much better mileage on that strip.

It is EXi models so many advance facilities are not available. **Cons-

*Servicing- Last month after completing 5000 km it has under gone one free service at Wasan Ford at Thane. Servicing was pathetic. They might have checked as per checklist but not bothered to clean the car. First time I have seen this kind of service. They even used my personal Turkish Napkin to clean grease etc. Simply horrible. They even could not replace the faulty cabin light.

All my previous cars were from Maruti and everywhere I got high quality free service. Until today, I have driven an Omni in Navi Mumbai, Versa and Swift at Vadodara, Esteem at Atul(Valsad). Everywhere service quality was much better.

I will continue next two free service at Wasan Ford at Thane just to get quick service(may be my dream) for any major problem during free service period. After three free services, I will try service stations at Pune.

Second service is after 10000 KM and that will be costly event because of change of engine oil and change of filter etc. In free service period, only labour charge is free. Today I have know knowledge of the cost.

In-spite of servicing issues at Wasan Ford at Thane, I do not mind to recommend this car because of .
