Ford Fiesta is genuinely a very nice car. It is very reliable. It offers ample amount of space. Looks and interior is OK for this budget. Fuel consumption is one of the best in this class. My model is Fiesta 1.4 EXI.

I have separated the topic of petrol vs diesel option from this article lately. Please see a very simple and easy review on this topic at https://mouthshut.com/review/Petrol_Vs._Diesel_car-154478-1.html

My review is intended for those who wish to buy new or old Fiesta. I have the 1.4 litre petrol version of this car. I purchased it two years back. I have spent only Rs. 6000 on maintenence for first two years. Driving this car is fun. However, 1.4 litre engine is not good enough for the fun drive when A/C is on. Fuel consumption is 10KM per litre in the city and 16Km on highway with A/C on. Keeping the A/C off increases mileage merginally(1 KM). Diesel 1.4 litre is best bet if you are looking for fuel efficiency. It gives you descent 16KM per litre in the city and 20+ KM per litre on highway.

Now let me compare with other options. Honda City is the best petrol car available in this segment. If you can afford Honday city then don't look for other options. SX4, Verna and Fiesta are all good options. You can choose any one of these cars based on your priority.(Looks, Interior, ride and space.) Fuel consumption is almost same for all these cars.

Considering the current fuel prices diesel is a better option if you drive more than 15 KM per day in the city.(1530=450 KM, 450/10=45 litre of petrol per month, 4562= Rs 2790 per month. Speed petrol is Rs. 62 in Bangalore.) Please note that there is no guarantee that Diesel prices will remain same in future for personal vehicles. In most part of the world petrol and diesel prices are almost same. India is expected to follow this trend in future. Theoritically you have an option to fit CNG kit in the petrol car.

Only negetive point that I dislike in Fiesta is that ride on fiesta on poor roads is nowhere near to that of Honda City.
