Have you ever thrown away a mobile into a dust bin after just 6 months of owning it?
If you think that it is not possible, just buy this fly phone - DS 410 - Dual sim mobile.
Brought this from Big Bazaar, Thiruvananthapuram on April 29, 2009.
Purchase price was Rs. 3500/-.
My fault was that, I did not to do any research on dual sim phones. But I had the knowledge that Samsung dual sim phones costs around Rs.8000. Hence when I saw the price tag, I could not resist. Also there authorized service centre here, were the same persons who services Sony Ericson which also contributed on my instantaneous decision.
On second day, when I connected the charger, it was displaying a message "bad contact charger warning". From then on my ordeal started.
Went to service centre, Accel Informatics. All my impressions about Accel was thrashed by the lady in the front desk, who behaved as if I was at their mercy.
My handset was in the service centre for next one month. Finally they diagonized it to be a battery fault. I kept on calling them, visiting them and even mailed the customer care representative of Fly in Delhi, who kept on giving promises but no action. During one visit to service centre the manager asked me to buy a battery from outside.
Finally they gave a new battery, used the mobile for next 1 month again, but there were voice breaking problems and charger contact problems, but I tried to live with those problems because of the fear of approaching the service centre.
But this phone was not going to make life easy. In the third month of usage the charging again got into problems. This time the phone won't charge at all. Just a small adjustment in the phone side connector of the charger will make it charge, but again it will lose contact. Finally a stage reached when it will not charge at all.
So I had to take it to the horrible service centre again. This time I had no expectations. They checked the phone and gave it back stating that it is a charger problem and I have to buy a charger from outside, since warranty for charger is only for 3 months. I was really angry, somehow showed a polite face and tried to convice them that the phone was with them for 1 month after I brought it, but as expected they just tried to pack me off.
I decided to buy a charger, but even after searching in all mobile stores in Thiruvananthapuram, I could not buy a charger for FLY. I wrote one email to the customer care, approached service centre again and even contacted big bazaar's mobile store. But no use.
Since it was a dual sim phone, both my sims were un operational and I was literally without a mobile phone for this period of six months. Considering the time I spent on trying to repair this really bad product and the highly unfriendly service centre, I found out that the best way is to make this fly away into the dust bin and buy a low cost phone from one of the ever reliable brands.
I hope the reader could understand my frustruation because of buying this FLY phone. Never in my life will I ever buy a product from FLY nor will buy a product which is to be serviced by this service centre.
