So I am back to what I was missing since last 1 month or so. Its RRCing and writing reviews at MS. Lot has been happening lately in my life so I could not give time to MS but I am back now and will remain here for some time. And since I am back how could I resist myself from writing a rvu and boring u all. After all u have accepted my boring 105 odd rvu?s.
Coming back to my review well wandering here and there for a topic I found the entertainment category and since I love to write on Best/Worst topics I found this one most apt as a comeback. Hope it goes fine as usual.
2004 was a mixed bag for Bollywood. We had the return of the legendary Yash Chopra, Maniratnam and also Ashutosh Gowariker had made a comeback. Also we had the on going onslaught on us-the public by skin-showing flicks like Murder and Julie which continued till the end of the year and seems it will continue for ever.
We people go to the theatres and spend our hard-earned money(or our dad?s money in case we don?t earn) to see good movies, great acting and stuff. But when we see that movie doesn?t deserve our money being spent on it and we go to sleep three hours in the AC theatre then we call the movie worst.
It is this feeling which made me sleep for (5 x 3) = 15 hours and bored me in the theatre which has made me write the 5 worst Hindi movies of 2004. There are many more which I will quote at the end but the best which deserve my bashing are these:
1.Asambhav
Frankly speaking this is one movie which I was eagerly waiting for. It had Rajiv Rai making a comeback after a couple or years or more. And the Hollywood Mission Impossible look to the movie had made expect more from this one. And since Priyanka too was there in the movie I went to see this movie first day first show bunking college. Well I slept in the theatre coz the movie was utter nonsense. No story line, no good acting, it was only world tour of Switzerland for me in the movie hall. I won?t write more on this one coz I already have written a complete review so read it and you will understand what I want to say.
2.Julie
My buddy Tanmay is going to hate me for this. But buddy its solely my opinion. Julie was a disaster. I had expected a rock solid performance from Neha Dhupia as well as a greatly executed script from this so called bold movie. But not only the story left unanswered questions but the performances of the actors except Priyanshu were below average.
I mean digging deep in the story I couldn?t understand how could Julie get physical second time before being married even though she knew that her ex ditched him. And even after that what made her take up prostitution as a profession and nothing else? Well I am not against the subject but it had to be handled more seriously and maturely which was not done by the director and thus the movie had nothing else but skin showing and melodrama. And Neha Dhupia instead of polishing her acting skills and has started doing all such kinda movies.
3.Rudraksh
The so-called supernatural or whatever natural thriller was what Rudraksh was expected to be. Having all those special effects and a big starcast like Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt and Ofcourse Bips this is one movie which I think I should have never seen in theatres atleast. Thinking about the movie just let me ask a question myself why did I see this cartoon movie. The songs-all crap the acting-nothing should be said about it and the special effects-huh? Now where will you find a research doctor played by Bips who wears clothes which suggest she is the fashion designer of Jassi (Oops that was a silly comparison).
4.Lakeer
Dance director Ahmed Khan follows the footsteps of Farah Khan and made Lakeer. Well I will not cross my Lakeer and say anything more. But something I would like to say that what was Ahmed thinking when he chose such a big starcast-Sunny Paaji, Suniel Shetty, John Abraham and Sohail Khan for such a movie which had nothing like a storyline in it. Acting wise only and only John performed while Suniel and Sohail went overboard everytime. And Sunny well he was supposed to be a scary in the movie. He had a scary music alrite but he didn?t really seem to be scary himself (no offence to his acting but his role wasn?t justified.) The music by AR Rahman was below average as well.
5.Kyun Ho Gaya Na
Kyun Dekh li na?mazaa aa gaya na?...these were my friend?s words which she kept on repeating for months after I saw this movie even though she had told me a big NO for the movie. But I went to see the movie for Ash and Big B. Ok Vivek I also went to see the on-screen chemistry between you and Ash. But well you two are better offline. Coming the movie there is really nothing to say more about the movie. Only one word describes the movie- BAD. Big B was the only saving grace of the movie. So if some one tells you to watch KHGN for free then watch it only after the introduction of Big B.
Oh! I have finished my 5 choices. There are many more I would have written. Anyways to brush up yours memories some to worst 2004 movies are Garv, Girlfriend, Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo(chk out how a bomb is exploded by a TV remote) etc. I might have gone overboard in bashing some of the movies but well if they can go overboard and make such bad movies who am I to stop myself?
Comments always welcome?
