Well, this is my 50th review people. And I thought listing my favourite writers on MouthShut would be just apt. So without much ado I rattle off:

Premjit

The king of MouthShut. Brilliant, snazzy style of writing that not only keeps the reader in splits but also keeps him seriously involved in his reviews. I consider him to be the P.G. Wodehouse of MouthShut. For great entertainment do read his The Agony Column at https://mouthshut.com/readreview/46898-1.html.

Just quoting one of his priceless gems:

“Dear Agony Uncle,

I’m 23 year old gay guy, marrying my boyfriend of four years next month. We both are somewhat confused about the appropriate dress for our wedding, and correct conduct during the ceremonies.

Yours,

Sweetoo

Dear Sweetoo,

I must insist that the two of you see Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. You can wear the clothes Shahrukh Khan wore in the song, “Yeh ladki hai allah”, and your husband can wear those worn by him in, “Bolay Chudiyan”. The flowing dupattas, heavy ornate kurtas with shining beads, and reflecting mirrors will make you guys look as pretty as him. As regards your second query on behavior during the ceremonies, whichever of you is undergoing bidaai, can learn how to cry watching Shahrukh when he hugs his mom while leaving home. Besides, you could also pick up tips on how to blush coyly from the scenes where Kajol calls him ‘sexy’. Have a happy married life.”

She has all that it takes to be a good writer – clarity of thought, good and easy to understand prose, and above all an undeniable grasp on the subject on which she is writing.

For more info do read her review on Maggi noodles:

He calls himself kiddo. Ditto others. But I am wonderstruck at the way he writes – purrfect queen’s English(at times a bit too purrfect), information galore, and finally his verdict which his and his alone.

Enlighten yourself by reading his review on Khushwant Singh’s I Shall Not Hear The Nightingale Sing at https://mouthshut.com/readreview/40400-1.html

Karan, it is indeed a great book, one which I read 12 years ago and treasure to date.

I call her the Bhishma Pitahma of MouthShut. She is the person with the maximum number of reviews. And the best part is that each of her reviews is well researched and is the result of extensive reading and effort.

A perfect example would be her review on New Mexico titled Enchanting. It is available at https://mouthshut.com/readreview/41615-1.html.

Notice how well she formats her reviews.

I love to differ with him and have had my share of squabbles with him. But what cannot be denied is the fact that the man has a voice of his own. Read his review on LOC located at https://mouthshut.com/readreview/48851-1.html.

There are some other writers whom I adore and whose work I find very interesting:

davieboy, nikamma1112, mouthshutdotcom, amjad_maruf(again we differ on a lot of things including a certain Mr. SRK), rjois(we differ but she’s a darling), manishrvce(he is to old films what mouthshutdotcom is to new ones), vivekbp, rekh(pity she doesn’t write anymore), staronearth, bhavna, elizadolittle, and happyz.

MouthShut has been a great experience for me till now(except for the odd screwball here and there), and I wish it many more years of great writers and writing.

*Amen!
