:
I cannot exist without you. I am forgetful of every thing but seeing you again my life seems to stop there. I see no further. You have absorb'd me. I have a sensation at the present moment as though I were dissolving. I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for religion. I have shudder'd at it. I shudder no more. I could be martyr'd for my religion - love is my religion. I could die for that. I could die for you. My creed is love and you are its only tenet you have ravish'd me away by a power I cannot resist.
- John Keats(1795-1821), considered one of the greatest English poets, to Fanny Brawne, whom he fell in love with after meeting at the age of 23 in 1818. Its sad that he did not live long to talk more about love.
:
What would music be without love? Remove love out of our lives and there would hardly be any songs made. So here I am with a list of five love songs that are close to my heart, although there are many many more that I love. And I am sure there are many more out there that I have not heard.
So here we go…
: Wonderful Tonight – by Eric Clapton:
It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, Do I look all right?
And I say, Yes, you look wonderful tonight…
This is not a very typical love song that talks about the subject of love or depth of love. But it talks about the wonderful feeling that you have when you are with someone you love. It is subtle romantic song wrapped in a pleasant light acoustics. Eric renders the song so well that I cannot imagine any other singer singing this song.
: More than Words – by Extreme:
Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
Coz I'd already know…
What a simple, beautiful yet thought provoking song with minimal acoustics which tells you that loving is much much more than saying those magical words: I love you. This song made Extreme a huge sensation. It is a great song with very meaningful https://lyrics.
: I’ll be there - by Michael Jackson(The Jackson 5):
You and I must make a pact
We must bring salvation back
Where there is love
I'll be there
I'll reach out my hand to you
I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name
And I'll be there…
What a wonderful song sung by none other than Mr. Talent himself; Michael Jackson. At such a young age he sang this lovely meaningful number with such passion backed up with equally good vocals of his brothers. I especially like the line where he goes, “If you should ever find someone new I know he'd better be good to you'Cause if he doesn't I'll be there'. It just describes the selfless nature of love.
: Love Will Keep Us Alive – by Eagles:
I was standing
All alone against the world outside
You were searching
For a place to hide
Lost and lonely
Now you've given me the will to survive
When we're hungry.love will keep us alive
Don't you worry
Sometimes you've just gotta let it ride
The world is changing
Right before your eyes
Now I've found you
There's no more emptiness inside
When we're hungry.love will keep us alive
This is one of my all-time favorite numbers. Great lyrics, great song, fills me up so much whenever I listen to it. The guitar work in this song is simple yet brilliant matched by equally good vocals!
: I Do It For You, (Everything I Do) – by Bryan Adams:
Look into my eyes, you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart, search your soul,
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true,
Everything I do, I do it for you
Nothing really incredible to write home about the lyrics of this song; they are very simple and straightforward. The magic was added by Bryan’s husky voice. I don’t think that the song would be the same without his voice. The guitar work in this song is also very good. I remember it rewinding and playing my audiocassette at least 20 times and listening to this song till my parents went crazy! It is a lovely and very powerfully delivered number.
I would also like to take the opportunity to add my other favorites.
: Please forgive me – by Bryan Adams:

And the list goes on…
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
