THE STARS I FOUND IN MY SKY

Who is the BEST, when BEST is always relative? This puzzle is of more significance, while judging is on an intangible, abstract concept like acting. Subjectivity is essentially a part and parcel of such reviews. Accepting these facts, I would like to point out the five brightest stars I found in my sky.

The legend of Dilip Kumar

You can laugh at many of the outdated actors of 1960s and 70s (?See how vulgar his hairstyle is!.. When he will stop overacting!!..?).. But pals, never at Mr. Yusuf Khan. He was never criticized neither for overacting nor for a funny dress, even in this 21st century standards. His acting was more of modern genre, even compared to many of our current generation heroes. Have a gaze at the total number of pictures.. you can see how selective he was. Really enjoyable was his Aan, Ram aur Shyam, Leader, Kranti and Sakthi. The Dada Saheb Phalke award was a perfect crown for this versatile actor.

Om Puri ? A Dark Horse!

A track record of more than 125 films within last 27 years! No matter however small his role was, he could steal the show from right under the nose of his co- actors. Loved his performances in the commercial ventures like Gupt, Chachi 420, Pyar to Hona Hi Dha,and Hera Pheri. The confidence emitting from him should have made the heroes green! Art films were his niche and just catch his miraculous performances in various films from Dharavi to Dhoop.

A Sorcerer named Aamir Khan

Everyone?s favourite! He is intelligent enough to use his market value effectively to sustain him for a long run. He can transform to characters to a considerable extent, which is still a dream for many of his colleagues. Take Dil hai ke Manta Nahin or Sarfarosh or Mann or Lagaan or Dil Chahta Hai.. One can?t escape loving his portrayals. He is simply brilliant!

Ajay Devgan ? Intensity Personified

He reminds Om Puri for many a time. The intensity in his eyes and the understated performance make him a completely different viewers? choice even with a less attractive physique. From Phool aur Kaante to Masti, he has enacted both well-defined and half-baked roles. Through his roles in Zakhm, Company, and Legend of Bhagat Singh, he is turning to be one amongst the best and memorable actors of his generation.

Hrithik Roshan and the Goblet of Fire

You can oppose and I can?t neglect his potentials. He is an actor of having fire inside? yet to get fully ignited. As a newcomer, his performance in Fiza and Mission Kashmir was commendable. He is yet to get balance and define his persona in the industry and to turn as a seasoned performer. I liked him most in Fiza, though his job in Koi Mil Gaya was simply splendid.

Aren?t these stars bright in your sky?
