Ever since I was allowed to read film magazines, I remember reading Filmfare. Not only because my mother loved reading it, but because she loved reading this magazine everytime we would travel by train, which was quite often in those days. Since we lived in Jabalpur, and my Dad & Mum were always highly social creatures, and because we knew a family there who owned one of the more decent hotels in town who also had half a dozen relatives in the film industry, Mrs. Raj Kapoor, Premnath, Rajendranath and Narendranath, to name a few, I had always had a good interest in the magazine.
Not that this magazine needs any introduction, leave alone an introduction from me!! What I find refreshing about the magazine is the presentation of the news. The objective of any film magazine is to capture the interest of its readers, and I personally think they do that pretty well.
Though on the flip side, these magazines are always exposing the lives of the stars, making news of even the smallest incident, and hence are not always so popular with them.
All said and done, there has to be someone reporting on the film people, and I rather it were Filmfare.
