I was skeptical to try this place out for my wife's birthday, considering mixed reviews. But I did find myself there on a nice windy monsoon evening.
The seating is mix of outdoor lounge and indoor formal. I am sure most people will opt for the outdoors except in summers or on formal occasions. The outdoors is done nicely, soft lights, spaced out tables. I wish they had given a better view of the bar.
Food - Things are a little confusing here. They call themselves a Mediterranean restaurant but I am not sure if that's an apt description of their cuisine. The appetizers & salads have a Greek, middle eastern touch with a few Tapas thrown in. The rest is pretty much Italian - pizzas, pastas and main course all strongly Italian. For a slightly knowledgeable person, this menu would come across as, for lack of a better word, confused. Med. food doesn't mean Italian.
We ordered a Greek salad which could have done with more & better Feta cheese. Not sure if pickled onions are part of authentic salad but they stood out very strongly against other milder flavours. The chicken starter - Chick Al Ajilo is highly recommended. In main course, we ordered lamb chops and Greek veg moussaka. The veg dish was ok, the lamb chops - again a treat. well cooked, right blend of spices. Again more mid eastern touch - could be easily passed of as Indian as well.
Drinks - Excellent drinks menu. All the usual suspects, nice scotch collection. Excellent wine list though they should offer more wines by the glass. We tried the Sangrias and they would definitely be must have on your first visit there.
Service - now some bad feedback has been written on the service here. But my experience was more than good. We were attended to promptly. Good advice on food was provided and everything was served quickly. Maybe because it was a light week night. The only complaint was that they seemed to be in a hurry to make us eat. The moment they cleared our starters, they presented us with the dinner menu knowing fully well that we were celebrating an event, still had our drinks on the table and it was still more than 2 hrs to closing time.
As a special touch, they offered us a chocolate mousse/cake and for any choco lover, it was beyond heaven. So were the truffles given as post dinner sweeteners. I understand its all baked in house and deserves a try.
Prices - Definitely on the higher side but I think its value for money considering the overall experience.
If only they worked on fine tuning their menu, it would be a delight to visit this place again.
