I must thank the writer-2008 for reviewing Fanstory.com on MS . On 26th May itself, I visited the site and became a member. On 31st May I converted to a paid premier membership. The experience has been good.
WHO IS IT FOR
Some members on ms have been expressing concern over various issues. Fanstory.com is for you if
1.you are basically a creative person with lots of imagination which you want to give shape to.
2.. you are fond of reading and reviewing stories, poems, novels, viewing arts, photos --all posted by amatuers but many on their way to becoming pros.
- if you want a response for the review you write, the site is for you. The response will be in the form of
a. a reply from the author
b. in the form of dollars or cents, currency credited to your account.
c. member points. these keep adding up and as you review more, the higher your rank becomes, so it is a thrill to keep moving up and getting some recognition for your effort in posting a comment.
When I 1st commented, my rank was 3782. Today I have 89 comment points , which have earned me 1 star, my rank has moved up to 786. I have 29 dollars credit in my account, 9 of these dollars earned from commenting on stories and poems.
4. when you write here on any subject, you similarly accumulate points as a writer or a poet and the ranks keep changing. One thing you are assured of is lots of readers, lots of comments and thus a satisfying exposure and a response . The more you write , more is the recognition and the reward.
5.if you have been complaining about the quality of writing going down on MS, fanstory is for you. The reason is that most writings there are of very high quality since they are subject to member reviews and also the site administrator who intervene if the comment or the story or poem are not upto the mark.They refused a comment of mine on a poetry as I did not justify my useful rating.
- if you are the kind who requires a stimulus to get started, again the site is for you. So many times, when I write on some subjects on MS, I am almost sure that I am wasting my time since no one will read it. That issue is not there on fanstory as viewership is assured due to the writing appearing on , many types of page views.
THE SITE
It is only a blogging site, not a reviewing site for products. Since many people here are more interested in blogging, this site can be an addition to MS where you can keep reviewing products and on fanstory, you can keep honing your blogging/writing skills. Members there give you suggestions on how to change the writing to make it better.
The site has many dynamic features which keep changing the entire day, like no of reviews, poems, stories written. Then which are the bonus stories, which are the most popular. Listings of best 10 in each category are also available.
CONTESTS
These make the writing interesting. You may be unable to think of an idea on what to write about. The contests decide it for you. So there may be a contest for an erotic story or a writing about a certain scenario or some types of people or animals. Everyday many contests are open, throwing challenges at you.
MEMBERSHIP TYPES
There are two types of memberships on the site.
FREE MEMBER
One is the free membership on which you require a valid e-mail. Here the member can only write reviews , comments, or take part in some of the contests. He/she will get the same cents/dollars/points as the paid members do.
A free member cannot publish his own story or poem for others to comment on.
However , by commenting and replying to e-mails/msgs he can remain a part of the community.
He has access to all other features of the site. No area is blocked for purpose of reading or posting comments.
PREMIER MEMBER
A premier member can also post his own stories, poems, photos, novels, art, graphics.
She can take part in all contests. She will make money by writing/participating in contests and commenting. There are also prizes to be made as surprise certificates/bonuses awarded.
The dollars keep accumulating and can be encashed or traded to award to readers by creating your own contests and quizes.
COST
The cost of premier membership for 1 year is 48 dollars . In Indian currency, this cost me Rs 1940 at current dollar rates.
MY RECOMMENDATION
The site is very interesting. It has been around for 6 years now. Has helped a no. of writers become professional. Your copywrite is protected for publication anywhere. No one can steal the story.
I suggest you first become a free member and browse around.
Once you see the level of writing and are comfortable with it and are not lazy to write, take up a paid membership.You will enjoy your stay there.
I am yet to explore many features of the site in the short time I have been there.
