There used to be a time, some 15-20 years ago, when Eureka Forbes was probably the only branded water purifier on the market. Fly-by-night manufactures were never reliable, because purified water is a long term necessity, not some fad diet.
I went for Eureka Forbes Aquasure storage water filter because it was cheap and did not work on electricity(power supply used to be an issue in my area). They have themselves become big looters nowadays.
For the 1st few months, the purification was Ok and I was more or less satisfied. However, the filter cloth, which does the 1st stage of filtration soon became clogged with muddy deposits(tubewells often throw of muddy water).
I contacted customer care people asking them specifically to replace the filter cloth. They sent a service guy for a charge of Rs. 500 only to clean the filter with some lemon juice(that too from my own house) and replaced nothing.
When I complained, they simply said that they were out of stock(without bothering to justify this absurd "service charge" or refund any amount). I had some heated arguments and lodged a complaint for poor service but there was no further response.
Then a few months back, I felt the need to replace purifier cartridge. This time I called up customer care and asked them if any retail shops sold these. They insisted on sending their own guys for replacing the cartridge.
When these guys arrived, I was told that they would do some servicing( utter bullshit) along with replacement and charge me Rs.750(earlier the cartridge used to be sold on shops for 550 bucks). I had no option as purified water was very essential for me(I was recovering from liver ailment). It was then that I decided the next time I will simply throw away this filter and buy a brand new purifier.
Tata Swach retails at a much cheaper price, or I could buy Pureit, but never again Eureka Forbes products.
