One of my friends presented a Gift Voucher for Essentuals Massage(iyyapanThangal). Today I wanted to take that massage and hence went along with my friend to the shop.
My friend is a regular customer for that shop and hence the owner recognized him. He introduced me to Mr.Mohan(manager) and we handed over the Gift Voucher which had the wedding wishes written on it.
Initially, the staff asked me to wait since the massager was taking his lunch. After some 15 minutes(after my friend left the place), the staff came to me and said, "sorry we cannot honor this GV as we take such requests only on weekdays and for weekends we need prior appointments. But if you need, you can take any of our services for 50% discount.
my only mistake was that I went without any prior appointment. on the other hand, he had many points for consideration:
It was nowhere mentioned in the GV that such messages cannot be taken on Weekends. for a customer, it was a shock.
If he meant that he cannot honor the GV WITHOUT PRIOR APPOINTMENT ON A WEEKEND, then why did he keep quiet when my friend showed the GV to him? He knew that I came suddenly. Why did he ask me to wait for some time?
Above all, It was a GV with a purpose - a Wedding day gift with the message written on the GV itself, which he saw many times. But still no courtesy or common sense. I can understand if it were an expired coupon. But it was very much live. How can they not honor a GV issued by them?
I don't know about their service. But I guess they miserably failed in common sense & handling the customers.
My self-respect wouldn't allow visiting such shops again, though I know well that my friend has paid money to them to get this GV.
