The Emerson microwave, Model #MW8625W came into our household about two years ago. In fact, it was about this time of year...a few months before Christmas when the old one blew. So off I went shopping for an inexpensive model so as not to injure the already limited Christmas funds.
My first stop was the local Walmart store. There wasn't a huge variety of models to choose from but the Emerson was exactly what I was looking for.
This model is a mid-size unit and fits nicely on your countertop. It has an the interior turntable that keeps your food microwaving at even temperature. The size is nice, you can cook a whole chicken in it or you can just re-heat a plate of food if someone was late for dinner. I found this size to be ''just right'' for my family.
It is very easy to use also. The kids have no problem operating this microwave. It has the following settings: Low, Reheat, Defrost, Medium, Roast. The timer goes up to 35 minutes which I find is about right for what I serve and cook.
Cleanup is a breeze. You just wipe the inside out with a damp cloth about once a week. We have a cover for all dishes that are put in for re-heating but you know how that goes with kids. I find that routine maintenance and cleaning will keep this microwave looking good.
Now for the price. Remember I told you I was looking for something not very expensive? This microwave sold for $59.99 at Walmart. I also recognized the name Emerson as a name-brand product and this finalized my choice. I didn't hesitate to go ahead and pick this one up for that price. When I got home I searched the previous Sunday's paper for sales and could not match the price. Other units that compared to this one were $89-$99.
I'm very pleased with this microwave. It is now going on it's third year and I can't complain at all. It has been well worth the money spent and is still going! This is a great microwave at a super low price.
