How often does one come across a book written about something that is largely considered a taboo - sex/prostitution? Paulo Coelho has written the experiences of Maria in a craftly and exquisite manner.

It is worth a mention that the portrayal neither condemns, nor appreciate Maria's ideology that guides her through her experiences. It is just a picture painted as it was seen by the protagonist's eyes.

The sexual encounters, however, are discussed in great detail which at times strike you a little oddly - I say that because I have read ''Veronika Decides to Die,'' and it seems as though sex is an integral part of Coelho's writings; quite contrasting to ''The Alchemist,'' the least to say.

It is hard really to share the whole experience here, but in short, it would suffice to say that it is sure worth a read (maybe another and another and another....) and without a doubt a great addition to one's collection. Go, get it now! ;)
