Originality:

Finally.....here comes an album which differs from the type of songs we hear in movies these days. This album, though not a blockbuster, has good enough songs by Vishal Bhardwaj, top it off with wonderful lyrics by Gulzar and a splendid work by all the singers.

Looking at Vishal Bhardwaj's previous soundtracks, most of his albums have something different in their songs. Whether it is Kaminey, 7 Khoon Maaf or Matru...., they are quite unlike the songs which most Bollywood movies have these days. This album altogether has a different feel, a different style to it but, it has its drawbacks.

The songs won't appeal to everyone and there will be a lot of people disagreeing with me. As this album is of a horror movie, certainly we can't expect joyful, rocking-the-dance-floor type songs. The songs have depth, but being too serious and in order to suit the feel of the film, the songs may even be considered as dull.

The songs -

(1) Yaaram (Sunidhi Chauhan, Clinton Cerejo) -  This is by far the best song of the album and one of the best songs released this year. Love, love, LOVE the joyous mood this song creates and the music is spectacular. Sunidhi and Clinton have done a fabulous job but for me, the real star of the song was Clinton Cerejo. His voice is just lovely and the passion he puts into the song drives you crazy. I remember the first time I heard the whole song, I couldn't stop listening to it over and over again - it nearly went on for half an hour!!

Another highlight for this song are the really lovely https://lyrics. Gulzar has done a really fabulous work this time (unlike Jab Tak Hain Jaan) and the lyrics are worth listening to at least once.

Ho raat savere, shaam ya dopehari

Band aankhon me le ke tumhe ungha karenge hum

Takiye chaadar mehake rehte hain

Jo tum gaye

Tumhari khushboo soongha karenge hum

(2) Totey Ud Gaye (Suresh Wadkar) - This was one song in the album which was so-so types. Actually not even that, strictly below average, I don't even understand the purpose of the song. The music, lyrics  or the singing - nothing is commendable and I have to admit, it was quite a disappointment after Yaaram.

(3) Kaali Kaali (Clinton Cerejo) -  Lovely song. This song has a calm, serene, peaceful kind of feel. I love the softness of Clinton Cerejo's voice and its really pleasing to hear this song. The lyrics, once again, are brilliant and this song is the second best of the album.

Kaali kaali aankhon ka

Kala kala jaadu hai

Aadha aadha tujh bin main

Aadhi aadhi si tu hai

(4) Lautungi Main (Rekha Bhardwaj) -  This is the only song in the album which actually has a spooky feeling. Some people may even have goosebumps. The music starts with the chanchan sound made by bangles and it immediately gains your attention. Rekha Bhardwaj's voice actually sounds like a daayan (no offense ) and the song overall is not bad.

(5) Sapna Re Sapna ( Padmanabh Gaikwad ) -  I don't find a lot of difference between this song and Lautungi Main. I mean, they are different songs but they have a lot alike. The singers, though different sound quite alike though Rekha Bhardwaj is way better. Even the tune somehow......has a similar ring to it. Still, this song is worth hearing.

So, overall this was quite a nice album. Quite different but it definitely appeals to me. The main highlights - Yaaram, Clinton Cerejo and the https://lyrics. Try this album for these three things.

Thanks for reading,

AH
