I've always been a Tylenol person. When I was younger and had a headache, my mom gave me Tylenol, so when I got older I of course bought and took Tylenol myself. The Tylenol worked on my headaches. It took about two hours and 4 or more Tylenol but eventually my headache would at least subside, even if they didn't completely disappear. I suppose I assumed this was the way all headache medicines worked.
I was so wrong!
During a particularly stressful day at work, I had a horrible headache, the beginning of a migrane, which I occasionally get. Although the headache had just set in, already I was nauseous, the light hurt my eyes, and my head felt like it was going to explode at any given moment. I mentioned to a co-worker that if it continued I would be on my way to the Emergency Room soon for a migrane shot. I had already taken several Tylenol and had no relief what so ever.
The co-worker I had been talking to offered me two Aspirin Free Excedrin caplet. I was quite confident they wouldn't work, but the pain was quickly getting worse and I would have tried anything. So I took the Excedrin, and finished my 20 minute break by sitting still and quiet, lying my head in my arms on the table.
At the end of that 20 minutes, my headache was nearly gone! Another 20 minutes, and it was completely gone. I had aboslutely no pain at all!
After work, I immediately went to Wal-Mart and purchased my own Excedrin. I am now never without it in my purse. When I feel a migrane coming on, I take two tablets and the pain is soon relieved. I haven't had a full-blown migrane headache since I discovered Excedrin.
The main ingredients in Asprin-free Excedrin are 500 mg Acetaminophen and 65 mgs of caffeine. I have tried Extra-Strength Excedrin and Excedrin Migrane but neither of these have worked as quickly and effectively on my headaches as Asprin-free Excedrin.
In addition to being a great headache medicine, it can also be used for relief from sinusitis, colds, muscular aches, menstrual pains, toothaches and arthritis pain.
The instructions recommend that people 12 and over take two tablets every 6 hours, not to exceed 8 tablets a day. I have never had a need to take more than 4 in 24 hours.
The Excedrin website at https://excedrin.com has a lot of great information on dealing with headaches in other ways besides medications. It helps you learn what triggers your headaches and about the different types of headaches. You can also receive a free sample of Extra Strength Excedrin or Excedrin Migrane by filling out a very short form.
Though I have heard some complaints about Excedrin being too expensive, I don't agree. For something that relieves my headaches as quickly and effectively as Excedrin does, 8 dollars seems very cheap. Especially when you compare this to the cost of an emergency room visit for a migrane shot.
