Hi,
I want to provide feedback on the Boarding facilities(for girls) here in Bangalore school.
Facilities and the boarding manual looks very impressive but it is far away from the reality, looks more like a eyewash.
There are prescribed study hours in the manual which are not followed, students just chill around and there seems to be no supervision. Study timings are not followed it is left on the discretion of the students to follow them. How many staff are there for supervision? One?
There are so called Mentors but they are not guiding students as it should be, is there a time allocated when they sit with the students and ask if they have questions/concerns.
Mobile phones are available with the students throughout the night and day, how do you expect them to study when they are connected to the hostel WiFi the whole night, is there a check or timings followed to ensure minimal and correct usage of mobile phones. Again there are rules mentioned in the manual is it really enforced? Is there restriction on which sites/apps students are allowed to use?
Is there timings followed to ensure the students sleep on time? who is checking when the students are sleeping and getting up? how many staff are allocated to this?
Is the general hygiene of the students checked? do they take bath before and after school? who ensures that this is followed?
What about students who are in their 12th and 10th are additional care is taken to ensure that they get a healthy environment where they are motivated to study? how will a student with all the distractions study?what is the expectation here?
What about the sporting activities in the morning and evening? Is it followed? Coaches don't turn up most of the time citing weather conditions and students just end up sitting with their mobile phones when they should be physically playing games? Is there a check on this?
Finally, as a concerned parent, I just wanna say that its not enough to just publish a manual citing the rules and regulations but follow them to ensure a good healthy experience for the boarders otherwise we are just waiting for trouble to break.
Children's need guidance and supervision to be able to get good values and do well in their academics, just leaving them in their boarding rooms is not the right thing to do.
I hope the management keep these points in mind and come up with a better execution so that students have a good learning experience in boarding.
Thanks
