Due to a very hectic semester at school I wasn't able to watch any of the hindi movies. Now that summer vacation is on, its time for me to make up all the good hindi flicks I missed. I rented out the movie Dum last night because I found Vivek Oberoi impressing in his other three movies. What followed next was three hours of torture? Here it goes:
Plot
Vivek Oberoi and his close friend Sushant have a dream of becoming honest police officers on basis of their Dum (hahahah). They bump into an honest selector when they go out for try outs and he(Mukesh Rishi) gives them an opportunity to join police after passing a couple of more exams. But wait a minute guys, there is also the gorgeous but pathetic Diya Mirza in the movie. Lets not get into how does Vivek meets Diya because its a sheer misuse of the MS write space provided to me and you. A dishonest and very cruel police officer Atul Kulkarni(Chandni bar fame) passes a few nasty comments on Diya Mirza and because Vivek is pumping so much iron(guy's got Dum) he beats him up and the rest of the pathetic story is about Atul Kulkarni's attempted revenge against Vivek.
PROS
The movie is colored.
It has Vivek Oberoi in the male lead role.
It is available in VCD, DVD and Video Cassette on discount.
If you rent it out and return it a week late, the owner wouldn't dare ask you for extra money, instead he might force you to keep it.
And above all, the movie finally does get over.
CONS
The movie is a complete torture right from the beginning. Here's how the movie begins:
Vivek is holding a gun and is chasing Sushant. After a lot of water pipe climbing Vivek catches Sushant and fires him with his gun (water gun) and yells ''pakad liya''. Sushant is caught on the roof of Vivek's house and during this process they break a few pappars. Vivek's mom complains about the pappars and Vivke tells her mom, ''Ma, Humein Apne Dum Pe Police Officer Banney Dey, Phir Hum Pappar Nahin Dushan Todenge''. I was very inspired after listing to this.
Vivek somewhere gets severly injured with a thousand broken bones and plaster all over his body but he gets a letter for his physical test and not only does this dude (dude's got Dum) gets up from his bed but starts walking, talking, singing, and passing the physical test. aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Also you must see(don't you dare) how Vivek finally kills the villian. After a lot of beating Vivek inspite of being shot on his shouder lifts up a weight rod with tons of weight on it and throws it on the villian. And we pathetic movie goers get to hear Sandeep Chowta yelling Dum..... Jaan Mein Dum in the backround.
Conclusion
I would like to take this opportunity to sympathise with all the readers who actually watched this movie. And I would like to once again request or should I say beg those lucky ones not to ever ever see it.
