The Speech Recognition Softwares(Dragon, Philips, etc) actually belongs to the Artificial Intelligence(AI) section of the Softwares. The AI has been there for around some time. But the fact is that, the evolution of the AI softwares is still not completed yet( not even half way through). There are a few who claimed to have produced Speech recognition software. But, from my experiences, I found no speech recognition software to be even 50% efficient.
The Dragon, when I had used found very difficult, and from my experience, didnt worked at all. First, we had to train the software with our sound. Its like training a 6 month old children computer programming. We have to first of all adjust the mic and all for optimum performance. The ambience should be noise free. The training actually means training for the user too. The thing is that we have to study the speed at which we should talk to the software.
The dragon, even if it is trained well, could not be used as one may think. Some one may be thinking like the computer could be controlled without the Mouse and Keyboard if the Dragon is once installed. Thats 100% wrong. One another thing is that, this software tends to slow down the system too.
So I think this software is a complete waste for any one. It could only be used as a fancy tool.
