Television as a source of entertainment or at least time-pass activity is an established fact.
It has changed life style of thousands. People have started remaining at home rather than hanging around outside. This applies equally well to people of all ages, all castes, all cities, all levels.
It is time to look back a little bit. The varieties of subjects handled are more than adequate. Science to fiction to cartoons to movies to sports to.. indeed it is satisfying.
The quality of photography, music, editing etc have been quite enjoyable.
Entertainment has become an industry and the professional approach has gone in.
With a large number of channels, the choice is free and adequate.
With the above prologue, I would like to analyze the lighter side of it a bit seriously.
National Geographic is by all means and by all standards the best and the very best in scientific programs. For the lovers of travel and wild life like me it has no match.
For news, there are couple of 24 hour news channels. To compete with each other, they often over publicize the event. For sensitive issues, this may cause serious implications. I think we have actually had it a couple of times already.
In music portfolio, unfortunately there are not enough good scrips. The music is always less and dancing is too much. It appears that music is only supportive. This requires improvement. India has in it’s heritage a vast asset of vocal and instrumental music. Let music come to fore-front rather than support dancing.
Cartoon channels are not enough-ask any child, he needs still more.
I can’t conclude without taking a note of the following.
SURABHI-A UNIQUE PROGRAM OF IT’S KIND ( DOOR DARSHAN)
CLASSIC MOVIES-HBO CHANNEL
BOURN VITA QUIZ CONTEST-SONY TV
Why we do not have anything on history? The world is full of history based on region, religion, castes, cultures and so on and so forth! Shall Ekta Kapoor think once again before stretching out her family serials?
