“Remake is made when you are out of ideas or you just are very passionate about the original”

Before I shoot my mouth out, let me be very clear about few things...

1. I have not seen the original Don hence wouldn’t be able and not the right person to compare with this one.

2. I am a great fan of new breed of Directors the list is long and Farhan Akhtar is on the list of favorites.

  1. I am a great fan of style and class anything which has got something new and something good to offer to keep me entertained for 3hours in a theatre or in my living room then its paisa vasool.

4.Ideally when I watch Hindi movies, I keep my relatity thoughts , brainy intelligence, critical bashing and of course absolute expectation over a hindi movie at my secret box hence I go with open mind and come out after watching hindi movie with a confused mind but yes most of the time entertained.

  1. Indian viewers who think we are Indians and can’t make a movie please bear with me I don’t which category I belong to because I enjoy movies and never take movies seriously and mostly don’t take it home, hence I really don’t care whether it’s a Indian movie or a Hollywood movie.

Finally … (Some of you must be wondering , is he ever going to write a review or just going to keep blabbering the Indian viewers) let me start the review of Don – The Chase Begins.

“Don ko pakadna Mushkil he nehe na mumkin hai..”- For a moment was wondering to have dejavu and felt like watching a Bond movie being remade but that is not the case that’s your Don a underworld king pin who can shoot people at the flash of his eyelid and snoop anywhere in the world to smuggle from drugs to guns. That’s your Don.

Don (SRK) is not your regular hero or for that matter a villain but a Superwizkid who is working for his boss along with few sidekicks. These sidekicks are of course jealous of his superfast growth to be the best person his boss counts on for all the dealings whether killing or for Drug smuggling. Of course if he is the biggest underworld kingpin he has to be chased by Cop, hence we have D’silva (Boman Irani) following him all the way right from Mumbai to Malaysia. Now with so many followers (no pun intended) behind him , he has to be caught and killed that is what is going to happen and may be it happened.(I am not an a** don’t wanna be spoil sport) , enters Vijay (SRK…yet again) who is a look a like of Don brought in by D’silva to take his place and reveal all the inside information from Don’s den. But before Don is killed there is one more follower Miss Roma (Priyanka Chopra) who is also vying for Don’s blood because he had killed her brother. Imagine how can anyone live with so many followers doing nothing but following Don everywhere but that’s what I said keep your brains at home. Now will Vijay be successful in getting all the information which D’silva wants and what happens to Vijay in the end will everyone know who Vijay is something I guess who have not seen the movie should go ahead and watch it.

Back to the Operation theatre…

I guess according to me Farhan Akhtar is one of the best director and he knew what territory he was getting into so he had made his homework well and I guess so he has passed with 70% marks because the kind of twist and turn this movie had is commendable one of the best in Hindi movie. Though the movie gets into your nerves in between becoming super slow but then you can’t expect miracles of watching a full entertainer. He has used SRK really very well without making him ham a lot but SRK couldn’t resist and has managed to ham at place but I guess this movie is about the plot and technology and not SRK. SRK’s acting skill should not be discussed in length because I know hardcore fan would come after my life but I guess would leave that part for you all to wonder. SRK has managed to act and ham well and his presence has made the movie sell to the Ladies audience (That is where he clicks , god only knows why) but each time he comes at the screen trying to deliver a dialogue makes you pull your hair out but I guess so Farhan has again done a good job by giving him limited dialogues and given SRK the scope for his antics like shaking his lips, shaking his head and of course his comic ramp walk entry moving his shoulder from right to left on the entry to the song ..”Main hoon Don”. Again it’s a Hindi movie who cares how SRK acts, I was entertained by the story.

Boman Irani is one of the best actor Hindi movie has found, just good for anything right from comedy to a villainous role to a inspector who is chasing Don. In one of the review I found someone writing that Priyanka Chopra acts really well, hmm strange because is she an actress or a glamour doll pouting her lips. But Indian movies have improved because leading ladies are being very well utilized and Farhanhas again utilized her very well giving her some short action sequences which were executed really well. So it doesn’t really matter whether she knows to act or not she was an integral part of the movie and she has done that.

The Dance & Acting

Other actors come and go and are used appropriately for the story anyways these movies are not for Oscars or National awardso we really don’t care they know to act or not. I went their for some entertainment and was damn well entertained for 3hours without getting bored except for few jerk movements by Kareena Kapoor one of the most pathetically choreographed song in Hindi movie.

The action sequences are really well shot and I had said earlier that we have really improved as far as actions are concerned and our directors are really taking care of that and investing some money on shooting the action sequence. Don’t miss the opening shot of the movie where Don fights the goons (Chunkey Pandey)and jumps from the window, though sounded like a dejavu from a bond movie. You would have lot of Dejavu, might sound like you have seen this before but again forget that at least our directors are trying that keeping the plot in mind.

The music of the movie is really pacey of course it’s remixed from the Original Don there is a zing in air and a techno feeling. The Don theme is really addictive and of course goes well with the movie. But my favorite song of the movie is “Aaj Ki Raat”very now and very young it’s very addictive you just can’t stop listening to it, you would want to listen it again and again.

I know half of India has seen this movie just because a curiosity that it’s a remake and most important SRK is their in this movie don’t need to give you more of philosophy but you are one of those soul in this earth who hate SRK and that’s the reason you have not entered the theatre then I would suggest go for the movie for just the entertainment flavor and for the last 5seconds of the movie where the movie begins and ends. (That was a teaser for all you guys)
