The New DON!. Review on Don: The Chase Begins Again

I watched DON last week.I have been impatiently waiting for it for the last couple of months atfer the music got released. It was the Music that intrigued me to watch Don.And to confess I am a die hard Farhan Akhtar fan. Having watched his super debut directed film Dil Chahta Hai and then Lakshya I just could not miss Don.

Plot:-

If you have seen Old Don then you have got the whole picture.But for those who have not seen let me brief it.

Don(Shahrukh khan) is a criminal leader who is very sharp minded and wanted by the Police.the responsibilty to catch him is given to De Silva(Boman Irani).

Don hates people who betrays him. In one such incident he kills his team member Suresh who is Boy Friend of Kamini(Kareena Kapoor) and Brother of Roma(Priyanka Chopra).

To take revenge kamini decides to help Police catch Don.

But Don as usual gives Poilce the slip and kills kamini also.

Mean while Roma joins Don's Gang by proving her worthe in a ploted incident . She wants to take her revenge.Then story moves to India where Don is settling a deal.But de Silva gets the tip from his informer and reaches in time to spoil his deal.

De Silva chases Don and in an accident Don gets injured heavily.De Silva catches him and with some plan in his mind declares him dead to outer world.

And in Comes Vijay(double role of Shahrukh Khan) who is a street performer.He is earning money to help educate his only companion Kid, son of Jasjeet(Arjun Rampal) whom he has met on the road after Jasjeet is caught by de Silva in crime for Robbery induced on him by some gang.Jasjeet considers De Silva responsible for his wifes death by the hands of the gang for not completing the task.

Now De Silva gets in touch with Vijay and convinces him to join him and enter the Don's Gang by becoming Don to catch the whole gang. Vijay agrees on only condition that Jasjeets kid be admited to a reputed school and be educated.

And then De Silva sends Vijay as Don to the gang. Slowly Vijay gets hold of all the secrets of Don's gang.But at the last moment De Silva gets Killed in a freak accident and he being the only one knowing Vijay's real identity dies with this secret.

This leaves Vijay vulnerable to both Police who consider him as real Don and Don's Gang who now have found out that Vijay is not Don.Vijay flees with Roma's aid to find proof of his innocence.

The story of both the old Don and the new one remains the same till here. And it is from here that the two movies differ in the ending part.This movie has in store for you a suspense at the end which can jolt you like the end in the hollywood movie Sixth Sense.

Direction:-

Farhan Akhtar handles the burden well this time but fails to create the magic of Old Don.But all in All he maintains a fresh touch to the movie which I liked.And especially the way he handled the end.

Cast:-

SRK 's acting skills are tested in the film and he does well to handle the challenge posed to imitate Amitabh.While Priyanka looks good in role of Roma and even Isha Koppikar who is shown as Don's girlfriend is charming in one song.

But real credit goes to Boman Irani for his spendid performance as De Silva. He is the actor to be watched in the film.

Om Puri's talent is wasted in the movie.

Music:-

I liked the music given by the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy . They had managed to keep the old melody in the songs even though they had used it in contemporary style. The song Khaike Pan banaraswala is good to listen. But addition of a new song Aaj ki raat sung by Sunidhi And Shreya Ghoshal brng you the fond memories of the days of Zeenat Aman.
