During our vacation to Andaman islands recently, we had stayed at this beach resort on Havelock islands.
The journey from Port Blair to the Havelock islands is about 3hours journey by a steamer ship. The govt run shipping company runs 2 return trips daily to Havelock islands.
It is highly advisable to book the tickets well in advance, especially during peak season(Oct - Feb) and also if you are carrying excess baggage.
It is also highly adivsable to book the resort well in advance, the booking starts 3 months in advance.
The distance from the Havelock jetty to the Dolphin resort is about 20 minutes by jeep. The narrow road runs through a lot of greenery with several blind turns. You wonder how the driver could drive with so much of confidence.
The resort has several cottages, all facing the pristine Havelock beach. The cottages are individually air-conditioned with attached bathrooms.
There is no room service, except for bed-tea, which you need to book a day in advance.
They have a common restaurant where they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner - also you need to book for yourself in advance. They serve veg and non-veg food and to the best of my knowledge, they do not serve liquor.
The food quality was not the best, but acceptable. There are several options near the Havelock jetty or on the way.
The havelock beach is easily walkable from the cottages. The beach is rocky and therefore be careful when its getting dark.
However, sitting out in the evening watching the shining stars above and making that wish on a falling star is just beyond my words.
