Hi,

I browse here often and have come across some pretty useful reviews, so thought why not post in my two paisa worth, on a requested topic? :)

So here it is :

I've been using Trump Prepaid for the past two years in Delhi and I can confidently say that for no-frills reliable service, this is a good option. It is very economical and I would recommend that, to maximise the economy, one goes in for the recharge coupon worth Rs 2000 valid for an year. It brings down the hassle of renewing monthly and makes for a good bargain. The service tax, compounded, comes out cheaper than monthly renewals.

Please notice that I have mentioned that it is a no-frills service. It has almost no flashy benefits like those offered by Airtel, Hutch and Idea. It is a very basic service and is ideal for people who don't have extra cash on hand, won't go beyond voice calls and sms-ing and would rarely call customer service. ;)

Downers first :

  1. If you stay in New Delhi, there may be quite many places like Delhi Cantt., some South-Delhi Farmhouses (read: wedding places), South Delhi basements, Far- West Delhi (Najafgarh), Airport areas ( Intl. and some domestic terminals), Urban villages (eg. Barwala near Rohini), North Delhi basements which may be quite weak on signals. The card goes on SOS mode and one may be quite disappointed with the coverage. However, if the areas you frequent doesn't include too many far flung areas and basements and you stick around main markets, and central Delhi is your office, then you may not face any problems in reception or calling.

  2. Customer service is terrible. Unless you do some string-pulling on the inside, know MTNL people, getting a stolen card replaced is a nightmare. (Trust me in this one, I have been through it.) Even if you do get back your card, your balance will be lost invariably, in red-tape or otherwise.

  3. Customer call service executives have very little knowledge of what is going on with the company. They are not able to help you on many things apart from telling you ''confidentially'' that there ''seems to be a problem'' and that a vague ''server upgradation'' is in process, which is attributed to many, if not all, of your complaints.

Plus points:

  1. Like I said: --> Cheaper than the competition. You end up saving a LOT over a long period of time.

  2. Plentiful and cheap/free (it depends on MTNL whims - one month it is free, the next it is charged at 50p/sms; stil cheaper than the rest) sms-ing. No need to cut down on the vowels and consonants.

(Hehe ... I positively loathe the ''u? gr8!'' lingo. :D )

  1. Generous call-pulses.

  2. No-frill and business like. None of those ''Hey, I am cooler than thou.'' hidden-charged services, which people won't have time to use.

  3. No hidden charges, all payments/ billing is above board and reliable. (Except when your card is stolen, that is. :/ )
