Update (18/09/2008): Hey guys... Good news for all the Trump users.. MTNL has slashed the rates to Rs. 1 and Rs. 2.50 per national and international sms recently (from the earlier Rs. 1.5 and Rs. 4 respectively)
Hi all.
I m a user of Trump (prepaid card) in Mumbai. I would just like to share some information about it with you all...
Availability: Firstly, let me start with its availability. It is not freely available in the market. It takes many a trip to the MTNL office to get a card. It is hardly available with the retail shopkeepers.
Activation Charge: Its activation charge has been reduced to Rs. 150 (from the earlier Rs. 225) and moreover, a recharge coupon worth Rs. 110 is offered free. So, effectively, one can get a new Trump Card for Rs.40 only!!!
Talktime: Now, to move on to the talktime. Here is where Trump scores heavily over the others. It offers much higher talktime as compared to the others... Eg: It gives a talktime of Rs. 3200 in a Rs. 2200 top-up recharge, Rs. 900 in a Rs. 750 top-up recharge and so on
Sms: Now on to the smses. The smses are cheaper than other service providers. 50 paise for local, Re. 1 for national and Rs. 2.5 for international smses (as opposed to Rs. 1.50 for local, Rs. 2 for national and Rs. 5 for international smses charged by others .These are the normal charges without any monthly rentals.)...
5.Network: Now to the network coverage. Trump is beaten hands down by the others here. The network coverage is pathetic as compared to Airtel and Orange and just a shade better than BPL. Call drops are frequent and sometimes even if your cell shows full coverage, the voice of the person speaking to you cracks. In the evenings, it is some sort of an achievement if ur friends/relatives are able to call you. They have to dial and redial a number of times for they are greeted with a voice that goes ''All lines in this route are busy. Plz. try after some time.'' At that time, your cell will show full network coverage!!!! Of late, though, its coverage has improved a bit but it still has a looonngggg way to go.
Another headache these days is that when the power goes off here in Dombivli, the network too goes kaput!! And the worst part is that theres load-shedding for 6 hours daily!!
Customer Care Service: Now to the customer care service... The customer care executives speak sweetly. Thats it!!! DO NOT EVER EXPECT THEM TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS. They will just take down your complaint and give you a complaint number (I still dont know its use!!!). No use of this service....
Roaming: Trump has a tieup with BSNL (whose network is definitely better) while roaming. But the other problems (Call drops, ''Busy Route'', etc.) remain the same. There is no rental for roaming and even the incoming and outgoing charges are less than those charged by others.
Offers/Schemes : Some new schemes like Trump Hungama and Local calls @ 49 paise for Rs. 49/- per month have been introduced. GPRS has been finally provided to subscribers of Kalyan and Dombivli since the last 6-7 months.. The best thing is that all the downloads are free.. Will stay so for a few more days.
So, basically, Trump is cheaper than others. The network is horrible in the evenings. But, during the daytime, it is quite good..
So, buy it if you want more talktime.. Thats it.. Dont expect anything else and you will be happy.
