Beauty is in The Eye of the Beholder
Jun 05, 2001 12:52 AM 1945 Views

I think we have all fallen prey to watching a beauty pageant and wondering why women would subject themselves to such behavior? Vaseline on teeth to make them shine. Push up bras to give more curve. Make up and hair from another era. Parading around for an audience to google and to be judge just on their beauty. Oh some contests do have'talent contests' but let's face reality if she isn't pretty no amount of talent will get her the crown.

So does a Beauty Pageant bring out the beauty of a person? I would have to say for most no! The whole concept of judging a person on their physical appearance I believe is degrading. I would want to be judged on my inner beauty more so than my outward appearance in any case. To enter a beauty contest one must have the feeling of superiority. That somehow the physical beauty one has makes them better than others. Something they had no control over makes them better than others. Is that beauty or is it pure vanity?

Beauty contestants are in it for the money and prizes. And the truth is most will stop at nothing to win. What you see is all an act a show to entertain you!  Behind the scenes, it is war!  You may wonder how I know these things. I unfortunately worked for a resort that hosted so-called pageants. There was no real beauty. The vast majority of these women believe their beauty gives them special status. That we average looking are not worthy of their presence. The sad part is we buy into that mentality. Beauty is valued. I may be the exception but I truly believe in judging a person on their merit.
