Dis(h)connected. Review on Dishnet Dial Up

Five months ago my dad asked me to suggest a good ISP, me being the net wizard and all :) (our previous account having just run out, dad wanted to try out something different, the previous connection being a Satyam dial up connection) so I in all my innocence suggested Dishnet Dial Up, thinking that they were a good service, with good connectivity and fast speeds (HA!!!).

I took a 150 hrs connection, and my oh my how I regret that decision of which I have barely managed to use 20 or 25 hrs, that also, only because ISP's take a coppla minutes each time the user connects to the net(Dad started cursing me everytime he saw the Dishnet Icon on the screen, so I deleted it :), to stop him resorting to more drastic forms of venting his anger).

My usual surfing time has been limited by the connection to 5 or 6 minutes after which it disconnects automatically, that of course is based on the wild presumption that I connect the first time I try. HA! I think out of every 10 times I dial once or twice I get connected else I hear the engaged tone (that sweet sound of annoyance, I think Dishnet could make more money selling us some different engage tones then internet dial up connections, since thats what we hear more often then not.)

Dishnet (this is in Nasik city) offers only one dial up number, so if this no. fails we are left hish and dry. In comparison with this both Sancharnet(BSNL) & Satyam have 2 nos. or so and their connectivity is decent (superlative in comparison with Dishnet).

Finally in frustration my dad renewed the Satyam connection which was so superior to Dishnet that we were left wondering why we changed at all? (of course dad says its all my fault and so when we discussed Dishnet he was thinking of fining me 850 bucks to recover his losses)

So my dear mouthshut compadres, if you want to come and check out yours and my favourite site (mouthshut I mean, not porn :) ), then I suggest you go for any ISP but not Dishnet Dialup.

This is my opinion based on the connectivity that we get in Nasik city, I cannot comment on Dishnet's dialup elsewhere. Also I believe DishnetDSL its lease line counterpart offers very good connectivity and is very popular among cybercafe owners.
