Tata Sky has better reception and better menu & navigation ascompared what DishTV offers. I think there are many better facilities> Camera angle selection > Avoiding TV Commercials etc. So doyour market survey before you buy DishTV.
I will add my review about Tata Sky soon, if that would be helpful for you.

Fantastic... Here is Dish TV. The Sales person (who is employee of an agent ofDish TV, working at a showroom... complex right) explained the features. Goodapproach, Dish TV hired Agencies or so called Franchises to sell the product.Franchisees get a place in the outlets (the most popular in the city), posingas if it is from this known dealer outlet. When enquired, only billing is doneby the dealer outlet, the service is done by another fellow... who is alwaysavailable on the mobile phone... the person who installed it is from adifferent agency.... oh my GOD...
After the struggle with all these, the sales part is over and I have theequipment installed and tuned in. First time in my life, I see your TV has amenu listing Channels with Names of the channels. No need for the elderly to memorizethe channel numbers.
Quality of Picture -Everything is solid, other than some freezingpixels at times.
Quality of Sound - Zzzipp....Frreeer.. Some times.. no sound... onlypictures, When it happens with News channels it gets to the nerves.
Technology - One day it displayed, your Set-Top-Box should not be switchedoff, because an important software upgrade is going on... Man, I did not do anything;I see the firmware of the Set-Top-Box was upgraded to a cool menu, with muchmore features. Now the customer had to find it out himself how to changechannels. After initial frustration, now we are all okay with it. The way the upgrade happened was superb.
Customer Service - One day I had my favourite channels missing from the list. I called there 10 digit customer care number. A fellow from the other end asked me to get in front of the TV, switch on the Set-Top-Box and start doing as per his instructions. Booom !!! I was instructed clearly, by this CSupport guy, to re-tune all the channels.
Overall - Good
Negatives - Set top Box displayed a message saying your Antenna is notconnected with the Box, when it was raining heavily outside. I was stunned tosee that message. This message was incorrect, the antenna was still there, butthe reception was gone. So heavy rain is a problem. Even light to medium rainsbrings in a lot of disturbances.
Now when you have a competition, everything seems to improve... with the introduction of another player into the market, I am expecting more wonders to happen.
Still enjoying the free period, awaiting bills to come... coz, when you pay, you start looking at the effectiveness more.

Bills: DishTV finally sends me the first communication, even when I dont wanted it... The Bill :) has arrived. Anyway, they show some wierd calculation on the bills. I think now-a-days it is fancy to confuse the customer with a bill/invoice, they have debits credits and finally they show a -ve value... I got a bill of -300 (odd). What does this mean? DishTV is giving me 300 Rs?
More details on the bills after I decipher it over the weekend.
