This review had been removed from MS due to some technical problems about 6 months back. Just felt like publishing it again…..
It's been so long since I wrote a review. Really missed it!! But not to worry prags is back in action!
Since I have seen this movie 4 times... I really wanted to write about it.
Dil Chahtha Hai gives some substance to the contention of our age.
The screenplay is absolutely cool. The dialogues are pretty hip and frequently funny.
The story is about 3 fresh graduates who are X-tra cool and have nothing to do but to have fun.
Inspite of such minor reservations, the movie takes you in a fun ride, coz' never before have you smiled and sighed so spontaneously while joining a likeable-n-recognizable bunch of guys in their quest of romance.
The 3 guys, Akaash (played by Aamir Khan), Sameer (played by Saif Ali Khan) and Sids (actually Siddharth played by Akshaye Khanna).
Akaash plays a thick-skinned fella who's not a very firm believer of love.
Sameer, the playful lamb flipping around every second girl he comes across.
And Sids, my favorite, all guys should be aspired to be like him. He plays a dreamy painter, and is very sensitive. That's the best thing about him.
The first half of the movie goes on in the gradual build up of the characters. It's all about their friendship, loafing around, and fun trips to Goa.
Basically a whole lot of fun!!
Then happens a quarrel between Akaash and Sids.
Akaash fly's away to Australia to shoot in the foreign locales. It's pretty essential in our Hindi movies bhai! There he meets Shalini (played by Preiti Zinta), sings songs with her actually denying all feelings related to love but eventually falls in love with her.
Sameer trying to pursue his lady luck with Sonali Kulkarni has a number of encounters with her boyfriend and they are absolutely hilarious.
As for Sids, platonic relationship with an older woman their encounters with an unspoken tenderness and humanness.
Indeed, there is a plenty to appreciate in the movie right from the camera work to the editing and right upto the music.
I'm sure you will love each n every especially after seeing it. All have been beautifully picturised. Bravo Shankar, Ehsaan n Loy!
And hey the costumes, one must agree they are very kewl, absolutely carved out for our generation!
Preity looks pretty and is sweet. Sonali is OK. Dimple has been wasted; there was no need of her.
As far as the guys go,
Akshaye, is outstanding, conveying the extremes of intensity and emotional fragility. His great potential should be tapped quickly.
Saif is extraordinary. It's a lovable performance filled with comedy as well as some innocence. I can't understand why had he been neglected for so long.
Aamir Khan as usual comes out with flying colors. But there was no need for this new look of his. He again delivers a flawless performance.
Hats off to Farhan!!!! If you've still not seen the movie go and see it…coz' it definetly Rocks!!! For those of you who have I'm sure you won't mind watching again n again n again……..
