Anne Frank and her family's story, based on true facts, and a diary maintained by her, is truly a moving account of a teenaged girl which all must read. On the face of it, it is a dry account of the way the fugitives arrange their lives and their home in complete secrecy to escape the wrath and the long, killing hand of the Nazi regime of Hitler.
Underneath the simple narrative, though, there are touching stories of a common person's dreams and aspirations as they try to live with dignity and bravery through the scorching experience that they go through. The place where they lived in the forties is, today, a public memorial and a favourite tourist site that people go to to pay homage to this teenager who had the courage to record all the atrocities and the simple living experience in a diary that almost all intelligent people have heard about. I recommend this book strongly. It will surely move you, no matter how "patthar dil" you may be.
