Inspite of hearing bad reviews from my friends, I decided to watch this after all....
The warning that I got before watching Dhoom 2, and that I followed (that I would like to share with those who haven't watched it yet) is "Don't take your logic with you"
The movie begins by showcasing a charismatic, dynamic, know-it-all and techie "thief" (or an artist, as projected by the movie, and the small B himself), mr. A, Junior Roshan. He is a master of disguise and he is on a mission.
The movie goes on showing him stealing entirely useless but priceless stuff (which he never sells) in an "ordered" fashion. For his gig in mumbai (which, somehow, completes the letter A on the world map, that he has been creating while stealing from everywhere all the time), he takes on the get-up of an old housekeeper, and comes flying out of a manhole matrix style.....and somehow dodges bullets while roller skating...
Then the chic and hot but anorexic-looking aishwarya makes an entry. She is supposed to be an accomplice of the good guys and wants to help catch mr. A by seducing him to make her his partner in crime (she is supposedly a "thief" herself) by faking a robbery herself. But she ends up falling in love with mr. A
The plot is weak with the focus purely on style. There is no doubt about the flamboyance of the clothes and the dresses. Big money has gone there. The locations are exotic. The part where mr. A reveals his original face to suneheri (the D2 people could have come up with a better name for aishwarya) is well picturised for a change. Even the passionate kiss and the previous revolver-scene is well crafted and shows an amazing chemistry between (arguably) the two most good looking actors in bollywood right now.
Bipasha basu is just an item girl (with a double role!!). The only reason y guys should go to watch her is that she is shown in a brazillian bikini....jokes apart...she has wasted her acting talent in this movie.
Uday Chopra manages to keep the first half alive with his indigenous accent and language and comic timing and comments. But he is also wasted in the second half.
Abhishek Bachchan was a complete dissapointment in this movie as compared to its original version. There is hardly any part of him seen in the movie. The confrontation with mr. A which was supposed to be a fight between lions turns out to be a 5 minute stale dialogue.
The plot lacks logic....
How did the security miss a moving marble statue (yes, mr. A is a marble statue in one scene) and a moving remote car that passes right between their legs??
How did all the bullets miss abhishek and uday when they were busy talking to their "honeys" on their cells while shooting bad guys at the same time???
How on earth does bipasha's "twin" not speak hindi??
Why does abhishek trust mr. A when he "gives up" his secrets in a "wrist watch"??
Perhaps the producers of the movie will ponder about these questions if they have a plan of making a sequel to this or a similar movie in the future.....
In the end I would like to say that this is a movie which is supposed to chill you out and take you on an extravagant trip with all the bollywood hotties (and it has been successful in doing so....it has raked in 50 crores already) around the world. The songs are popular and catchy, the fashion statement is BOLD. So if you do plan to watch it with your friends (don't even think about going to this movie with your folks at home), then just go and make some loud comments in the theater, you will enjoy it, and yes, please leave your brains behind.....It is worth 3/4ths, if not all, of your money
