Personally I find this kind of horror movie way better than Annabelle.A much different Approach to Horror movie. The story keeps you interested. Much less predictable than other horror movies I have seen so far.

Eric Bana and Edgar Ramirez, the two main characters in this movie while others act as supporting actors.

Story starts with a group of soldiers in Iraq on a mission which lays the foundation of a back story. Like every other movie they won't show the full back story in a go. Hence keeps you guessing what's going on.

Next scene starts with Eric Bana as a cop caught in the midst of a domestic violence scene which of course is connected with the Iraq story. From there the story kicks off. The movie keeps you on the edge of the seat keeping you guessing and scarifying you on many scenes. The movie overall is dark, gore and sensible giving a different approach than the usual.

Eric Bana as a cop did a pretty good job with its own back story. Felt pity for the guy sometime and you could see that in his acting trying to balance family(supportive yet deprived of Love), his job and such cases(with enough Gore and Drama to shake a person's soul) keeps you thinking how can he work in such conditions while Edgar Ramirez who's a priest, not the typical one's we would expect does a really convincing job as a modern era priest with his own shortcomings and faults.

While Joel McHale tries to keep the funny quotient alive and plays the role of a bad-ass cop with knife skills. Other than these three other characters have a very limited screen play.

This movie tries to connect to the people with its real time approach of how life is in this era. Not one of those typical horror movie setups where the location is far off somewhere along the outskirts with hardly any means of transportation. This is right in the middle of a busy New York city. Overall I would rate this movie 8 out of 10 since it had everything a horror movie should have

Horror, suspense, demons, devotees, sacrifices, exorcism, realism, build up, goreness(lots and lots of it, gotta say the makeup team has done a really good Job, make sure you are not eating anything cause you wont have the stomach to eat while watching this), darkness, creepiness, Jump Scares, connecting stories and much more. Strangely it didn't get the attention it so rightfully deserved.

For those who liked movies like Conjuring, Sinister, se7en, Exorcist, Zodiac would like this movie too. Give it a try!
