GROWS ON U!. Review on Delhi 6 Songs

Well, i'll start my review by sharing with you all that since I am living in Bangalore, i got this great opportunity to meet AAMIR KHAN and the whole THREE IDIOTS cast, except Kareena at IIM BANGALORE, where they are shooting, got autographs, snaps and saw a large part of the shooting too.soo it was great for me, i have been the biggest AAMIR KHAN fan and never in my wildest dreams I had thought that one day i'ld be clicking snaps with him.So just wanted to tell you.

2008 had been a good year for music and that was mainly because of ARR, 2009 begins on a even more positive note with REHMAN coming with another scintilating album, something different and something more groovy and fun this time on .I never expect anything from ARR albums because I know that they are going to be good as you are sure about AAMIR KHAN's film that they are definately going to ROCK.So no wonder DELHI 6 ROCKS as well.RAKESH OM PRAKASH MEHRA and PRASOON JOSHI have given us a RDB and now they succeed in creating the same magic here in DELHI 6.THERE ARE TOTAL OF 10 TRACKS in the album, .

I'll rate the album according to my choice of preference.

GENDE PHOOL, is my favourite track from the album.What a composition, so rich and pure, a shaadi kind of song, very unlike REHMAN, but brilliant nevertheless, esp love the singing by REKHA BHARDAWAJ, SHRADDHA PANDIT and SUJATA MAJUMDAR and the lyrics are also very cute.I loved this track because of the fusion, a great mix of traditional and western instruments, MAGICAL.5/5

MASAKALI, the pigieon song, I love this song for its madness and a very innovative kind of composition, very different and unique.The tune is catchy, singing is very good, lyrics are very interesting too.The song is kind of addictive that is why its second on my list.MOHIT CHAUHAN, a very fine but under-rated singer has done a splendid job here.MASAKALLI is what it is because of his singing.PLAY IT ON.5/5

BHOR BHAYE, i love classical, raag-based songs so I loved this beautiful track.And though this song is not a stand out song, it could have definately been better but the lyrics and singing by SHREYA GHOSAL and USTAD BADE GHULAM ALI KHAN is brilliant, and this song reminds me of an old classic KAHE SE AAYE BADRA from CHASME BADOOR, though it was a sad song but the musical arrangements I felt were similar.4, 5/5

ARZIYAN, what is so good about this album is that it has a wide range of songs, there is a fusion, classical, aarti and now a qawalli.So there is something for everyone.This beautiful song reminds me of PIYA HAJI ALI, the same depth, soulfulness, great lyrics by PRASOON JOSHI, an extremely touching song.JAVED ALI and KAILASH KHER have done a good job here.4/5

DIL GIRA DAFATAN, its a very mellow, soothing romantic track but the singing is just outstanding by ASH KING and CHINMAYEE, as the backing vocals, lyrics are nice too, there is minimal music in the song but the singing creates a beautiful effect.GREAT TRACK.4'5

DELHI 6, title song is very similar to one track I heard from tamil BOYS, but it rocks nevertheless, the singing is by a host of singers, like BENNY DAYAL, BLAAZE, TANVI, CLAIRE, VIVINENNE POCHA, its an unusual song, with a lot of western arrangements but I really liked it., Its off the track but good nevertheless.4/5

NOOR, though is a few lines spoken by AMITABH BACHCHAN but it leaves a great impact.Very deep and nice.3.5/5

TUMRE BHAVAM MEIN, is an aarti, but very soothing and nicely written, it creates a nice atmosphere, something like EK OMKAR from RDB, both brilliant and the effect is the same.3.5/5

HEY KAALA BANDER, is a cool, peppy song, it reminds me a bit of O HUMDUM SUNIYO RE from SAATHIYA, i liked the beats and singing of this song, though it could have been a better track had the lyrics been better.3/5

REHNA TU, is not exactly my kind of track, but RAHMAN has done a splendid job in singing it ably supported by BENNY DAYAL, and TANVI, maybe the kind of track which grows on you as you listen to it more.3/5

So overall its an album which has some brilliant songs and some songs which will grow on you as you listen to it more and more, but the album is worth a buy just for GENDE PHOOL and MASAKALLI, what brilliant compositions.GRAB YOUR COPY NOW.2009 has started on a positive note, first the absolutely brilliant DEV D AND NOW delhi-6, both rocking albums and my favourites right now.
