David Beckham had a tough time finding the right Madrid property worthy of his millions. He and Victoria have already turned down four properties suggested to them by Real Madrid, complaining they were too small and too public. There is one particular property more to their liking - a 26,000-square yard home with three swimming pools (one indoors, two outside), two dining rooms, six living rooms, Jacuzzi, helicopter pad and a nuclear bunker. He David Beckham probably needs the bunker if he does not perform as expexted by Real Madrid.
Who was living in such an extravagant house you might wonder? The answer is Marcos Perez, a former Venezuelan president, who lived in the property until he died of a heart attack in 2001 leaving his widow and four daughters, who still live in the property. Security was paramount for Marco Perez as he was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of his citizens during his brutal regime in the 1950s.
The Beckhams appear not to be having the best of luck buying properties recently. Their last purchase, a luxury chateau in the South of France, was revealed by neighbours to be 'haunted', after its previous owner committed suicide in the garage.
