Let me write this in two parts. First I will explain about working with Data Patterns.
When you join in the company, they will tell you that they provide very good learning opportunities for you. But the reality is completely different. Very few engineers get the opportunity to work on good products. Others will be utilised to work on non-technical layman works. Also, the persons working on technical projects will be made feel that they are working on niche works. But only outsiders know they are working on outdated technology. They company set process and culture for factory workers. Not for techies. You suppose to call everyone sir/ madam. You will be expected to stand when the CXOs come.
There is no guarantee for the monthly salary payment. Promotion and hikes are only Daydreams. You will be expected to spend your entire day(24 hours) in the office and work for them. You heard it right. Working with Data Patterns is a kind of modern day slavery.
Since working with them is a nightmare, you may want to resign from the company. Then you will start to see worst in worst. When you resign, you will be allocated with new and difficult project and asked to complete before you leave. Also, you will be provided with no support or assistance from team. The senior persons in the company will treat you as like you committed a grave mistake of your life.
Second, I will explain about their products.
As the company mainly dealing with government agencies, projects will be awarded based on tenders. For a greed of securing the projects, they will quote very low amount and lowest lead time in the tender quote. If a project will take 2 years to complete in any professional environment, they will quote that the project will be completed in 6 months to get the contract from customers.
Moreover, they will initiate the project activities only during last 3 months. Later, they will ask customer for delivery date extension. Since the activities need to be completed hurried manner, engineers of the project need to forget personal life and quality of outputs.
Many times, they will deliver incomplete projects to customers to close the delivery commitment. When customers try to operate the unit, it will not function. Then they will inform the customer that they will repair the unit under warranty.
During that time, they will actually work on the project. They will counter argue this by saying that they have a quality team who supervises everything. Actually, the quality team of data patterns is a dummy team with no defined job roles and authority.
The management is highly autocratic and run the administration with ego. Also, they nurture same culture with their middle level managers and senior engineers. The company survives by exploiting government initiatives and preferences of making defence products within India. The company is highly incapable to survive without Government support.
