I traveled to dapoli on 27th Feb 2010 by car from nerul to murud beach. It took us around 6 1/2 hr including 1 hr brake for breakfast. We took the uran-chirner -karpade-pen-indrapur-manfaon-goregaon-dapoli-murud route. Was lost at drongari and lost 1/2 hr and 10 km.the total distance was 255 km.while coming back we came via panvel and it took us only 51/2 hr including 1 hr for lunch.
The hotels at murud are just rooms without much facility. The only one that i saw of good quality was kamat (lotus hotel) where they also serves buffet meals.
The beach is clean but the water is muddy. It is not worth the travel to murud, you can get the same beach at murud janjira .the only advantage of going to dapoli is to see the dolphin in the sea. There are boats that take you a km into the sea and charge rs100 each to show the dolphin.
