Some Honorable ji trying to pull Strings ji

Hindustan Times, New Delhi – April 17 The I & B Minister Sees Red where others see Blue…’. Thus, squealed the headlines when I was drinking my brown coffee in a steel tumbler over a White sofa. Our Honorary Minister was just doctoring a war-path over something RED he saw that also made him Red. The rest of the world saw straps of BLUE turquoise thongs raising from a pair of low-slung jeans and gyrating with the same intensity as much as a South India devotee would, when he visits Swami Mallai. Now, all this made me GREEN with a desire to gyrate.

Some Jee Bee and his thoughts

Hey…..P(l)anty of confusion this is? Red, Blue, Green, Brown……

Ok. Let me clear the air.

Mujhe …. aapse kuch kehna hai….Pata nahi …err….kaise kahun… err… its about….Nudis….tch tch … Fashio…tch ….Music Album, that’s making the nation Red - DJ DOLL !!

And the owner of those G-Strings is the model Jariwala, Shefali Jariwala, a 20+ Engineering student from Mumbai. T-series again cuts a Pant…Album, a Remix album with a novel gratifying [not gyrating, read it again] formula - exhume old hits, add digital beats, put some ooommmpphhh models, and remove their clothes.

So much for the video part. Now, the audio. I just discovered that Albums can be heard too. Especially, if you are color blind like our I & B Minister or you wouldn’t want to see what you get to see. [Shouldn’t Microsoft use this punch line for their WYSIWIG Operating Systems?]

The Audio

The Songs featured in the Album offer a copious range in the form of 12 Songs, most of them NOT the regular mixable songs. They are a delightful mix of Laxmikant Pyarelal’s and RD Burman’s marvels, predominantly of the 70s genre. This album features a potpourri of singers and also sandwiches 3 songs from Polygram India [marked # in the list below].

Singers:

Abhijeet, Babul Supriyo, Bela Sulakhe, Sashwati, Manoj, Parineeta, Radhika & Ujwala.

Music recreated by:

Harry Anand

The songs

  • Kaanta Laga.

Film: Samadhi [1972]. MD: Laxmikant Pyarelal.

No need to add more on this song's details.

# Poochona Yaar Kya Hua

Film: Zamane ko Dikhana Hai [1982]. MD: R D Burman.

Novel use of Violin. And notice the unique way in which the singer says KYA in 'Jane Hamara KYA hoga..'

  • Roz Shaam Aati Thi

Film: Imtihaan [1974]. MD: Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Good to hear. Nothing Spectacular.

  • Kaliyon Ka Chaman

Film: Jyoti [1981]. MD: Bappi Lahiri.

Standard Remixing.

  • Tere Kaaran Mere Sajan

Film: Aan Milo Saajna[1970]. MD: Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Good to hear. Nothing Spectacular.

# Tu Tu Hai Wohi

Film: Yeh Waada Raha [1982]. MD: R D Burman.

Another song which went thru storm for its video. Audio wise Average - no uniqueness.

  • Bhigee Bhigee Raaton Mein

Film: Ajnabi [1974]. MD: R D Burman

Good to hear. Nothing Spectacular.

  • Koi Shehri Babu

Film: Loafer [1973]. MD: Laxmikant Pyarelal

Standard Remixing style. Average.

  • Do Ghoont Mujhe Bhi Pila

Film: Jheel Ke Us Paar [1973]. MD: R D Burman

One other Highlight of this Album. But not much novelty about the remixing.

# Nahin Nahin Abhi Nahin

Film: Jawani Diwani [1972]. MD: R D Burman

A softer handling could have been better. Average.

  • Tere Mere Honthon Pe

Film: Chandni [1989]. MD: Shiv Hari

Boy ! You miss Hari bhai's Flute in this. Good start with STRING in the beginning. Wrong choice for being remixed.

  • Hum Tum Gum Sum

Film: Humshakal [19??]. MD: R D Burman

Very garrishly done. Not Recommended.

Gb’s Tanhai’s Thoughts:

Amidst all the remix albums which currently flashes anything from dusky models leaning against a tree with their tresses covering their face amidst a setting sun to a ‘NRI-turned-DJ’ who sparkles on the cover with 2 silver bracelets between a Gold one which in turn is between 2 pieces of red strings tied on the wrist, this album comes as a breather. [no suffocation due to lack of clothes could be an other reason too]. Definitely, worth a BUY. Thanks to extremely good handpicking of songs, no horrendous arpeggios and some really warm renditions. The Album Toppers are Kaanta Laga for great background rhythms, Poocho na for a very passionate rendition and Do Goont for its lively pace. For 12 songs at Rs 55 [Cassette] and Rs 99 [CD], this one is a Steal.

While there are loads of arguments either to DO or NOT TO DO a Remix, my suggestion is let them decide. Don’t get into the Blues there.

This album displays amazing versatility esp when you are driving. I was maneuvering through the busy streets in Andheri and yet remained blissful without for once honking, without for once giving dirty glares to my fellow road mates – the rickshawallahs, whom I normally find them driving next to my driving seat. Also, this album would make a great milieu in parties and other social gatherings where you got to take 2 left foot and convert tap them to the right ones.

To settle some dust....

Shefali - 'I fail to see why 'Kaanta Laga' has rubbed some people the wrong way. Did I go nude or strip? Of course not.' Try to understand her MSians. Such clarity, and you guys make so much fuss? Her ending quote 'Whatever I do, believe me, will have a lot of romance.'.

P A T I E N C E !! Im already blushing and turning Pink. Waiting for her next album!

My Tanhai whispers to me - Hey Gb, What color its gonna be next time?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

N O T E: This being my first product review, I decided to play SAFE. I just followed every protocol that gels with the Remix concept:

A Remixed Category - I have taken a different product, and put this product review in that. First level Remix. Veteran MSians normally call this 'your review is under the wrong category'. Guys henceforth change that to 'Your review is in the remixed category'.

A Remixed Title - My review title is a remix of Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines. Second level Remix.

Keep it Short like the clothes they wear - I wrote this review in Brief [All Puns intended].

Show off and say that you have P(l)anty of talent: I coudnt figure out how rather, what more should I show now. Probably after reading your comments, I learn something.
