Dabangg marked the return of Salman Khan to stardom after giving various flops and he has not looked back ever since. Enjoying and riding on the heights of his stardom Salman Khan is back with the first sequel of his career DABANGG-2, which has been in the news since it was launched as Abhinav Kashyap, the director of the first part decided not to be a part of the sequel & producer Arbaz Khan opted to don the mask of the director.

The sequel is not a path breaking film rather it is based on the beaten to death formula, which once again has been accepted with open arms by the viewers, example Dabang, Singham, Rowdy Rathore, etc. The treatment given to films during the seventies and eighties has attracted the viewer once again as they rush towards the theaters to get entertained. There is no space for the word LOGIC anymore as people have given it a backseat, the success of Bol Bachchan and Khiladi 786 is another proof.

Therefore, do not expect anything new or logical from Dabangg 2 because it is not there. But what it has is plenty of entertainment with over the top kind of action, which is surprisingly loved by the people and the film has a star that has got the midas touch hence DABANGG 2 has turned into gold.

The sequel begins from where Dabangg left and our Chubul Pandey has been transferred to Kanpur. After having sorted out the differences with his step-brother and step-father he is living a happy life. Bachcha bhaiya with his two brothers rules the city and the rest of the film is about the fight between the good and the bad. The plot is very simple, very predictable where you know the next scene that is going to appear on the screen but having said that I must accept that the film is yet watchable.

Characters make any film interesting and writer Dilip Shukla has not only incorporated most of the characters of the prequel in the sequel but have given them significant roles to play as well. Their roles are not big but whenever they are on screen they make their presence felt, which makes the wafer thin story line entertaining.

Music by Sajid-Wajid is loud but suits the premise of the film. Except ‘Dagabaaz re’ sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Shreya Ghoshal none of the song is good as they seem to be a continuation of the prequel. If the music of the film is to be rated on a scale from 1 to 10, it will get 4.

Dialogues are written keeping the mood of the film in mind hence they are clap worthy when Salman’s fans need to go berserk & they are hilarious when the viewer needs to laugh or smile. In short a good homework was done prior to writing the dialogues and the result is very good.

Photography by Assem Mishra is very good as he has nicely captured the action scenes and lanes of Kanpur. Action scenes are good enough to invite whistles and claps as they are aptly performed and executed.

Performances by the sidekicks of Salman Khan are praise worthy. They are also given some of the most hilarious dialogues that were required and they score high marks in this department. Vinod Khanna as Prajapati Pandey, Sonakshi Sinha and Arbaz Khan are adorable in their roles.

Deepak Dobriayl has done justice to the negative role given to him. Nikitin Dheer is also given a negative role and has looked good. He has the physique and the temperament required to be good villain therefore if given more opportunities he will go places.

A powerful villain was required to match the heroics of Chulbul Pandey, which required an actor who can play the negative role to perfection and Prakash Raj has justified his selection as Bachcha bhaiya and delivers a powerful performance. Excellent dialogue delivery, fiery eyes, good body language takes his performance to another level.

The man who deserves praise is none other than producer director Arbaz Khan, who may not have succeeded as an actor in his career but confirms that he has everything that is required to be a successful director. In his debut film as a director he handles the predictable subject with sincerity and makes it a watchable film. He has kept the duration of the film under control and has extracted good performances from the entire star cast.

Salman Khan, the man with the midas touch is back as Chulbul Pandey and wins the hearts once again. He is naughty; he is tough and adorable in whatever he does on the screen. With perfect comic timing and daring action scenes he is a treat to watch. A powerhouse performance by Salman makes it must watch for his fans.

For the sake of hard work that has been put together by Arbaz Khan and Salman Khan DABANGG-2 becomes a good entertainer. The Khan brothers are confident of the success of the film at box office hence indicated the part 3 where the brother of Chhedi Singh is out to settle accounts with Chulbul Pandey. I am looking forward to DABANGG-3.
