IN MY OPINION:
Creed 2 is the 8th installment in the 'Rocky'franchise. The legendary Rocky series made its comeback in 2015 with director Ryan Coogler in Creed. The son of Rocky and his competitor-turned-friend Apollo Creed won many critics and audiences with the rightful to return to the boxing saga.
In Creed 2, director Steven Caple Jr. takes on the task by filing the shoes of Michael B. Jordan as he reprises the role of Adonis Creed. The entire movie is all about the inspiring fight between Adonis Creed and Viktor Drago.
STAR - CAST:
Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Dolph Lundgren and Florian Munteanu.
PLOT OF THE MOVIE:
Creed 2 takes you back into the boxer Adonis Creed's [Michael B. Jordan] life when he is about to receive the title of being the World's Heavyweight Champion. After revealing his accomplishment with his fiance Bianca [Tessa Thompson], he still has some more time to celebrate. Whereas, Ivan Drago [Dolph Lundgren] was a merciless and angry fighter who killed his father Apollo Creed in the ring itself to lose it to the famous Rocky Balboa [Sylvester Stallone]. Now, Creed wants his glory back by fighting against Viktor who is closely trained by Ivan. Viktor now challenges Adonis to fight once again for the title of Heavyweight Championship.
The plot is good since it is fresh, nostalgic and overall its presence can be felt. The script is written by Sylvester Stallone and his debut writer Juel Taylor.
PERFORMANCE:
The protagonist Michael Jordan once again proves his mettle that why he is among the leading mens in the Hollywood industry. His performance is strong and emotional as he undergoes with the uncertainty of what he wants to be in his life - like a good man, a tough fighter and a responsible and loving father. The chemistry with Tessa Thompson is very much touching and beautiful. Her independent nature and gentle performance is worth appreciating. Stallone, on the other side plays the supportive and motivational character who pulls off some good punches as Rocky Balboa. Even after 42 years he is still impressive on the big screen. The antagonist Ivan Drago is performed well by Dolph Lundgren.
Overall, Creed 2 is an all-embracing conundrum of strength of the two men and their state of being harmed, either physically or emotionally who are trained to be tough in the ring.
MUSIC:
The music and background score is really good, and the song by Tessa Thompson just before the final fight goes well with the complex script.
CINEMATOGRAPHY:
The cinematography is overall good. Nothing much to praise or criticize about it.
MY SUGGESTION TO YOU:
Creed 2 is not only about boxing and sporting spirit, it is a deep ocean where the fighter has to dive in to face his emotions and expectations. It's inspiring and motivating too on the other hand. You should give it a watch.
MY RATING:
3.5/5
