Creative Inspire 7.1 T7900 is a decent sound system within the budget and after using it for almost 6 months now, it's one of the best system I have owned.

  1. Price I paid, was 8200 in Bangalore.

  2. As usual, this is designed to work best with creative sound cards only.

  3. If you have separate 7.1 non-creative card,  you have to buy four 3.5mm male-male headphone jacks for connectivity because most generic 7.1 sound cards come with 4 outputs.

  4. Creative 7.1 cards come with non-standard 3 port output and the supplied cable should be enough for your connectivity.

  5. The sound is very good. When I say sound, I mean playing a vbr/320kbps mp3 and the in-built cmss 3D/stereo perfectly routes it through the 7 channels. Not to mention the original DVD sound qualities. Too good.

  6. If you are using non-creative 7.1 sound cards, then do not buy this speaker since absence of creative cmss 3d type software will not route the signals properly i.e your all 7 speakers might not work.

  7. It did not work with my intel media series motherboard with inbuilt 7.1 sound card due to the absence of CMSS type software.

  8. One wired controller comes bundles with the package, but some sellers are also shipping this system with a wireless controller and remote in addition to the wired one. I don't understand the need for this. I have now an extra unused controller. Could have saved some money.

  9. Till date I have not dared to cross the 50% volume mark in my 15x15 bedroom. my neighbors state that they are able to hear every dialogues out of my DVD's.

  10. 2 front, one center, one sub, 4 side/rear speakers with inbuilt tweeters are there. If you can find any rare DVD supporting 7.1 audio, it will be an amazing experience.

11.  The woofer has the  upmixing button from a 5.1/6.1 sound card. You have to set it to "direct" if your sound card is 7.1. For 5.1/6.1 use the button.

12.  With good quality headphones, if you use it in the controller input, then the sound quality is very good. DO NOT USE the AC97 audio input/output in your CPU cabinet for this. Use the controller for aux in/mic in/headphones.

  1. This system is ideal to be the preferred home theater system attached to the TV/DVD in a mid-sized living/bedroom. You have to buy the cables separately then with RCA-3.5 mm male jacks. The supplied cable is only for creative 7.1 cards.

Overall I am satisfied with this one.

Best,

PS:It's 3 yrs now, I am editing the review only to let the world know I am still loving this wonderful piece of system, absolutely fabulous. Every movie/music I still listen makes me remind how correct was I, in purchasing it.
