Cosmopolitan...I admit that some of the features are patronising but I find them quite surreal and funny. Of course I know I’m never going to be a 6ft, size 6 model but it is a bit of escapism for a while isn’t it?
Sometimes, I think that magazines like Cosmo are taken too seriously and it doesn’t help that while it is aimed at the 20/30 something crowd a lot of articles would be more suited for 16/18 year olds.
Granted, there are a few quality articles and campaigns but most people don’t buy it for this reason, they want to know what is the hottest lipstick this season, and take a personality test to find out what kind of a friend they are. And with Cosmo, this is exactly what you get.
The problem with Cosmopolitan is that after a few years readers can outgrow it and look for quality journalism elsewhere in other magazines.
On the whole I do tend to read it from cover to cover as most of the articles are of a high quality and are very well written. Excellent agony aunt pages as well! Usual adverts inabundance i.e make up and perfumes mostly ( the expensive kind) and the small ads offering dating and abortion advice. Well worth a read if you want to pep up your sex life at least one article in there!
For the more down to earth girl the fashion shown is rather expensive and sometimes way out, not the average sort of stuff you would wear around. On saying this magazine has some very good beauty advice and tips and features some of the best beauty products around.
Some might criticise the publication as being a waste of money and even worse a magazine that merely sells sex and more sex.. but looking at the magazine... you will see that cosmo is dedicated to impoving the rights of women everywhere...
Maybe I’m just a sad individual.
Maybe I’m an optimist.
Or maybe I just like a good laugh!!
I love this magazine and I believe that many others do to.... BUY it!! As its your essential monthly pass time...
