If there are man made creations that are fit for the Gods, ice cream is definitely one of them. Loved by all ages, ice creams are one comfort food that a few can resist. Corner House is one of the many places where you can devour, indulge and sin.
As soon as you enter the place and are ready to order, you see chocolate sauce simmering and all the ice creams on display. Your mind goes into a dizzy and you forget the rest of the world and all the drooling doesn’t help either. The smells titillate you and you go numb. Calories, what are they?
What’s on the menu?
Death by Chocolate
The most famous item in the menu DBC is a slice of heaven indeed. Blocks of chocolate cake form the base of it, on top of it go two scoops of vanilla ice cream and then comes a generous helping of thick chocolate sauce. If this was not enough to kill you, a sprinkling of roasted nuts and one or two cherries might!
Priced at Rs.150, this is certainly a must try. The price might seem to be a bit on the higher side but it is sufficient for two (normal) people and it is more than sufficient to add inches to your waist line.
You either like chocolate or you don’t, and this one is only for the chocolate lovers out there.
Fruit Trilogy
Chocolate is not your thing? Don’t worry, because fruit trilogy is there to your rescue. Ice cream loaded with fruits like litchi, kiwi, pineapple, apple, Chico will have you transported to fresh fruit world instantly.
Black forest cake with ice cream
True to its name, it’s just a slice of black forest cake with vanilla ice cream. As simple as it sounds, I found it to be the most delicious of the lot after DBC. Priced at Rs.110, this is the best bet if you don’t like too much of chocolate or fruits.
Milkshakes
Milkshakes are a little bit of a letdown. I tried three of them – Malt thick shake, chocolate thick shake and litchi milkshake. Didn’t like any of them and surprisingly didn’t like the chocolate one in spite of being a chocolate lover. I would not advice you to try the milkshakes. They are disappointing. But ice creams won’t disappoint you, they are rich, creamy and of very high quality and that is really the high point of corner house.
Apart from this, I have tried the almond fudge and pineapple punch and liked them too.
What ever you order gets done pretty quickly. The staff are helpful and well behaved. One major disadvantage is that they don't accept cards. Nothing much to say really about the ambiance and other things, this place is all about the ice creams. Nothing else matters and it doesn’t bother me either. I don’t really care about the boring tables and chairs as far it is clean. The prices may seem a little high but I feel the ice creams are totally worth it.
If you are a hard core ice cream lover, this place is definitely worth a try.
