Juice me, abuse me. Let me introduce. Desigal – Mouthshut – Mouthshut –review- review- comedy nights with Kapil – comedy nights with Kapil- desigal’s review.
I have been following this show from the very beginning since I am a huge fan of Kapil Sharma’s wit. When you watch it for the first time, you might be reminded of Kumars At No.42. Especially because of dadi’s character, but then the similarities end there.
The concept is simple. The first half of the show there are a few gags based on the family and their attempts to make money and the second half is film stars promoting their latest movies. I must admit, this is a very good show. I watch some parts on youtube on repeat.
What works for me?
Gutthi - A goofy Punjabi woman who gate crashes all the interviews. Look out for her white hanky, two chotis and sports shoes. Her mono acting and various versions of ‘Aaap ayye’ song are hilarious. Sunil Grover plays it to such perfection.
Bua – Frustrated middle aged woman who is ready to marry anyone. Her line ‘kaun hai ye aadmi’ always manages to stir up some laughs.
Dadi – Played by Ali, dadi is a booze crazed grandma. Her interaction with male celebrities, even though repetitive, is funny.
Kapil’s wit : This ties the show together. Some people might find his sarcasm towards his audience members a bit offensive. But Kapil is so endearing and earnest that you tend to forget the rude comments. At least I do.
Audience Interaction – In this way, the show is unique because the audience also gets their 5 seconds of fame. Some of them ask the most embarrassing questions to the celebrities and some get slaughtered by Kapil. Most of it is staged but still funny.
Humor – Pretty clean I would say. No adult jokes. Made for the family audience.
What doesn’t work for me?
First Half: In most of the episodes, I did not enjoy the first half. Kapil’s stand up for the first five minutes is good but after that its downhill.
Toilet Humor – I am not a fan.
Repetitive – The format can get boring and repetitive after a point unless they constantly try something new.
Inconsistency - Some episodes are extremely funny where as some are average.
Siddhu: I respect the man but his constant laughing on jokes that are not funny, his shayri, and his thoko and khadkao get on my nerves. I am sure he is a nice person and all but I have never understood what he is doing in the show?
My favorite portions so far
Gutthi's dance with Anil Kapoor.
Seepika with Deepika
Gutthi's questions to Elliyana and Shahid
Most of the episode with Sushant and Parineeti
Ranbir Kapoor's episode. Haye, the man is so humble and sweet. At least on this show, liked him a lot.
Ritesh's fan dancing with him and asking him where he went to honeymoon
A fan dancing to Ram Charan's song.
Gutthi's macchli saap mono acting
Gutthi's appleaurat theme song
Anything with Guthi in it.
Okay, I am in love with Gutthi.
Verdict
Comedy that too, fit for family audiences is difficult to churn out. This show manages to do that every week. Over all, it’s definitely worth a try. I would recommend it. The guest portions are well worth the time.t
