Cloudnine - a rich experience!

Staff Attitude:

I delivered my second baby at Cloudnine on 16 July 2011. My doctor was Dr. Sudhamathy Kannan (review seperate). I had a good experience at Cloudnine.

Infrastructure:

Very good. The rooms are very well decorated. The bathroom is spacious. There is a tv and cabinets in every room. The nurse call button is effective. There are trays for medicines and diapers. The bathroom has a shower cabinet. They provide shampoo, towels, soap etc in the bathroom like in hotels, They provide sanitary pads for the patient and diapers for the newborn (cheap ones tho). My son used to cry a lot when we used the wet wipes given at the hospital. very poor quality. Once we started using Johnsons wipes, he stopped crying.

It would have been nice if they had a play area for siblings. The "Blues&Pinks" baby shop in the basement provides for emergency shopping. The medical store is well stocked.

Au Bon Pain, the bakery, at the entrance has good food in the mornings. By evening, it is not worth eating there,

Service:

The service was good. The ==doctors ==come on rounds everyday for the baby and the mother. The ==bathrooms ==are cleaned twice a day; room service is prompt. A physiotherapist, dietician, and paediatrician come on rounds everday.

The ==nurses ==are quite inexperienced and handle the baby quite roughly. I guess they are used to handling newborns. The nurses promptly answer the call button. They communicate well and speak politely. They do give impractical/stupid advice like "Dont carry the baby if he cries, he will get used to to being carried around" or even more stupid statements like "Slap the baby's hand if he puts his hand in his mouth". All this for a newborn!!!! All this comes from unmarried 20 year olds!!!!!

I chose Dr. Surekha Managoli for my scans. She is a very sweet doctor, and patiently explains every detail. She allowed my husband, daughter and mother-in-law to watch the scans.

I should have attended the lactation class they had at 1130 am. Now I regret it.

The reception staff are extremely slow and inefficient. They NEVER have small change. If the fees is Rs. 325 per visit, should they not stock 10s and 5s? Pathetic. Billing is slow. The PRO is hardly there when required. The seating in the reception area is comfortable after the recent revamp.

Their emergency numbers are worthless. I called for an emergency once and they said there are no doctors available and please call later. One other time, the duty doctor said "I have a case, please call later" (But that Dr. Rekha was courteous enough to trace me and call me back herself and apologise).

Catering

The catering (food and service) is excellent. The service people are well-groomed and prompt. Service for attendants is extra. The food is absolutely delicious. The variety is good too.

So bad.

Never get admitted on a friday or saturday. They seem to have half the staff on sundays. There is delay for everything. I got admitted on a saturday. On monday morning, the physiotherapist, dietician, and paediatrician landed in my room one by one and gave advice. I heard only half of it, as we were under pressure to get discharged by noon.

We got only 40% of insurance cover. It seems that is Cloudnine's arrangement with Mediassist (United India Insurance) ; The call centre said we would get Rs. 50, 000; We got only Rs. 36, 000. We had to pay almost 50% the cost along with insurance cover,

Avoid going for checkups on weekends. It is very very crowded. A scan is best done on a weekday.

On the whole, Cloudnine is good. It is and en"rich"ing experience.
