I had been using a Credit Card by Citibank earlier. as I was very properly using the card and paying the bills regularly without delay, they offered me an instant pre-approved loan. I took it for my uncle who had an emergency need for money.
I paid the regular installments for a few months. Then I lost my job returned to Nashik my hometown and missed a few installments in between. It all got messy thereafter. I wanted to close the loan account by paying the outstanding in full. They gave me a huge amount to pay. I visited local branch at Nashik and they told me to go to pune to pay the money.
I went to pune and they asked me to call customer service from ATM phone. to my shock when I called through the ATM phone, they told me that my credit card was terminated and that there was no loan showing in my name.
So I returned back home.
After a few months, I started bad phone calls from their recovery desk. After many hassles and daunting efforts, I had to pay thrice the loan I had sourced initially to close this matter.
They are not at all courteous and very ill-mannered.
I accept it was my fault, that I missed a few payments, but the price I had to pay was in the form of extortion of money and cheating and haunting phone calls and mental harassment etc.
It was the biggest mistake of my life. I would not recommend anyone to own a Citibank account or card.
