Let me share my experience with Citi Financial. I am deeply disappointed with the way they treat their customers. I had availed a personal loan sometime back to pursue my PG degree.


I wanted to close the loan (preclosure) but these people refused to accept my payment when I wanted to close the loan immediately and they delayed the entire PRECLOSURE procedure for 3 weeks and skinned me of some nice hefty interests along with the same principal loan amount I had availed.


I urge all people never to go for CITI-FINANCIAL to avail any personal loans unless it is absolutely necessary. The phone rocks. You call them… they say how May I help you…. Then you are put on HOLD and no one answers you back.


After such phoney experience, I had been trying to contact the branch to close the loan amount for the past 2 weeks. When I initially contacted them, I was informed that I had to wait till my EMI for this month is cleared after which I need to make the payment and that this information would only be updated by 12th on their systems. Such stupid software they use and they cant even make arrangements where a customer can close his account immediately? People, remember that there are pre closure charges also.


They made me visit their office personally twice and refused to collect the payments on time giving reasons related to their banking software and banking procedures.


When I later called the CitiFinancial Branch (Banashankari Branch, Bangalore) over phone, I was informed by the CitiFinancial Executive stating that the loan amount for this month is cleared through ECS and that I can make the payment and close my loan amount immediately.


When I reach the Branch Office personally to close the loan amount , I am made to wait for more than 2 hours and then I am informed that the systems are down and I cant make the payment . The (Executive) then tells me to make the payment at a different branch, which is 15 kms away from the current one.


Hence, when I visit the CitiFinancial (Basavanagudi Branch), I am made to wait for another half an hour and later the executive informs me saying that I need to contact the same branch from where I had availed the loan and he cannot accept the payment at this branch. How Ridiculous should one feel??? The wait, the hectic travel in traffic, the patience one has to take and finally get this crap?????


He also checks his system, database and informs me that my EMI is not at all updated and asks for a bank statement. I couldn’t get a bank statement immediately coz my debit card was damaged and the bank was far away and my time and patience I had wasted on this was already out.


Please note: I had called up the BSK Citi Financial branch earlier and I was provided with false information by (the executive) stating that the EMI for this month is cleared through ECS and now I am informed that this is false... How can they provide customers such false information and make them wait and commute un-necessarily? They say Customer is a king… I don’t think this holds good with them.


I had to commute 16 kms and it was a waste of time and money. When I called up the executive to enquire about this false information she provided about my EMI and pre-closing procedure she gave me, she didnt even feel empathetic to say "Sorry" for providing and mis-leading me. I am deeply disappointed with Citi-Financials Customer Care and I shall definitely see to it that I will never avail their services in the future.


I had also contacted the Customer care and informed them about their poor customer support. Why would they be interested????? It would have been nice if they treat their customers properly and provide them with accurate and precise information rather than misguiding them.When anyone avails a loan, they are asked to pay the processing fee, pay heavy monthly interests, pre-closure charges, etc…. and finally they also give such pathetic customer support… Do we all need this…… HELL NO.
