''Citi Never Sleeps''
I took citibank credit card 3 years back. Since then, Its very difficult to get my queries resolved about transaction details. That is why I have minimised the usage and then decided to close it down. I have sent several mails and called helpline numbers to close down my account and settle all the balances. After repeated requests, One lady called me one day, asking me to pay Rs 355.00 to settle the account. After about a week a recovery agent came to my office to collect the payment. I paid it through cash and took the receipt.
After about a month, I received a statement showing some amount pending in my account. The cash payment which I made was not reflected in that. I immediately contacted them. After several mails, they told me that they are looking at it. Again after a month I got statement with fine slapped in it for non payment of amount (which I paid) and one more years renewal fees was slapped on the card. I had 3 add on cards also so the fees and amount pending was a 3400 figure. I was surprised. I again requested them politely to look into this matter. No response received. One fine day a lady called and asked me to pay the bill.
I told her that I have paid and got the receipt also. She then started threatening me that we (citibank) will take legal action against you and you (me) are not interested in paying the pending bills. Then I got irritated. I immediately called back at the number and spoke to the supervisor. He himself again was helpless in helping me out. I reported the entire matter to chennai office. I did not received any satisfactory reply. Everytime I get the same reply...please send ur card number/ mother's maiden name / date of birth / billing address. After sending them repeated mails about the payment made, they keep on asking these details only instead of taking any action.
Plus they do not have any co-ordination among themselves. The person who calls up does not have any track of email conversation with the customer. Also the person who types n the response to the emails are always keen to know the personal information rather than reading the mail content. It seems either they are not trained or they do not want to answer the query raised. Fortunately I have got the receipt of the payment which I made and the copy of all email conversations with them.
For me , citi is sleeping always, and when I disturb them they simply wake up after a couple of days and ask me my personal information. Really a burning example of BAD..i repeat BAD service. I will update you whenever my problem gets resolved or I get a satisfactory and up to the mark answer from CITI.
I am attaching a copy of my mail , last mail to the support department of citi. I used some harsh words, but I had no choice left with me. I still receive regular bills and the amount has gone up to Rs. 4500.00
Regards,
Himanshu
